Justin Masterson? Really? A #7 in the rotation type of pitcher? I don't know much about him, so someone educate me. I just pulled up his numbers and out of Cleveland's starters, he seems to be THEIR 7th best starter in nearly every stat. How in the world does someone who is the Cleveland's 7th best starter make the top 5 for the Cardinals, much less be an impact starter for the Cardinals?????

And he's a rental?!?!?!

And he's coming off the DL?!?!?!?

Someone help me out before I lose it with Mo's lack of balls to make a real deal when you're giving up real talent.

And he averages about 5 innings per start?

Have you seen his wardrobe?

Mo and his collection of soggy cracker eating ivy league stat boys in the front office have zero balls.

This trade is a joke.

Mo's legacy is so overhyped bc of the WS wins.

Ramsey probably would be doing better than Bourjos in the majors this year, frick what a dumb trade.

*We need to part with OFers, but this is a giveaway.

Ramsey would not have even been in triple A if Mo, in his genius, didn't think we needed more outfielders in the offseason. Adding Buorjos pushed Shane Robinson to Triple A. Grichuk added another OF to Memphis. Instead of playing Triple A or even possibly being called up, he's pushed to Double A.

This trade sucks. I don't even care if it's good value getting Masterson for Ramsey. I would love to have someone tell me how this improves the team.

The only explanation I can come up with on how it makes us better is if it was in preparation for another trade. If there's a deal in the works for a bat and Mo knows we're going to lose say Miller and Martinez, then it makes sense why you need another back end of the rotation/long reliever type pitcher. Chances of that happening? Nil.

Does blow but awesome pic.

BTW - Still pissed about that trade. Hope that change of scenery really works for Masterson.

Saw lots of Mizzou gear last night. Thought that was interesting.

I'll be back today, as I'm a glutton for punishment.

What are the Cardinals doing????

Lackey for Craig and Kelly?

I'm fine with Craig being gone but I'd rather have Kelly than Lackey.

This is stupid.

I can't even wrap my head around this trade much less the 2 of them together. I completely understand and get that either Craig or Taveras had to go. I just don't know what the hell to think as we continue to set records for scoring 1 run or less in games. I can swallow getting one starter, but we needed 2? Really though Masterson was traded for to set up a Kelly or Miller or Martinez being traded for a bat.

It seems like something fell through, really makes no sense to add these two pitchers.

I would not have traded Kelly for Lackey straight up. Kelly is 10 years younger, has been a company man from day 1, will do anything he's asked with a smile.

Kelly is better than Miller with a million times better attitude.

This is so dumb I'm feeling apathetic, like I don't even care. Kind of hope this turns into something that gets Mo on the hot seat and eventually fired.

Rift developing between Matheny and Mo? Regardless of who I think should play where because it matters little, I certainly get left with the feeling that Taveras has always been forced upon Matheny. Even if he should have been, I don't think there's much doubt that Matheny was always hesitant to play Taveras. This move gives Matheny little option.

I don't know if I buy this 'play Hattie at first' type riff between Mo and Matheny. Although I do think Taveras isn't a Matheny type of guy, so maybe there is truth to it.

I think overall they've been on the same page, it just didn't work out as planned.

Mo passed on moves this winter in hopes that he'd be sitting here mid summer with a .300 hitting Craig and Taveras, creating a lot of leverage for the Cardinals.

I think he was planning on having a much more valuable Shelby Miller, a healthy Wacha, and a surplus pitching problem, creating a situation that lets him trade a valuable Miller for a big piece.

All of his bets failed, all of his chips lost value.

In hindsight, we should have packaged Miller with OFers and tried to land a legit SS like Tulo or a young guy like Profar.

Instead we signed a .240 hitter in Peralta and got two meh pitching rentals.

Even if these turn out to be great trades and Masterson and Lackey are lights out, they're not going to have 0.00 ERA's. At some point, some way, we needed a bat. SS/3B/2B/OF/Somewhere.
