Y'all are high off your asses if you think CBP is gonna cut a 7-ft freshman. So what if he's not ready THIS season...he has 3 more. You can teach post moves, you can add weight and muscle, can't teach or make someone 7-ft tall.
Look at the roster numbers by position...
Center
33 R. Delph | 7-0, 235, , RS FR
Winter Haven, FL (IMG Academy)
Forward
41 M. Atewe | 6-9, 250, , FR
Fitchburg, MA (Notre Dame Prep)
00 C. Bowers | 6-6, 235, , JR
Racine, WI
25 J. Granger | 6-8, 185, , JR
St. Louis, MO (McCluer North HS)
5 J. Purchase | 6-7, 200, , FR
Melbourne, Australia
20 A. Thompson | 6-8, 204, , SO
Dothan, AL (Houston Academy)
Guard
21 M. Canada | 6-3, 225, , SR
Austin, TX
16 K. Canty | 6-1, 185, , RS JR
Harlem, NY
1 K. Harrell | 6-4, 215, , SR
Montgomery, AL (Brew Tech)
20 T. Lang | 6-6, 195, , FR
Mobile, AL (McGill-Toolen)
14 A. Mason | 6-3, 210, , SR
Queens, NY
24 K. Ross-Miller | 6-1, 185, , SR
Grand Prairie, TX
13 T. Shamsid-Deen | 5-10, 165, , SO
Decatur, GA (Columbia)
11 D. Wade | 6-5, 170, , SO
Henderson, NV
Looking at this roster, first look at who was brought in at guard...Canty, Lang, Ross-Miller, and Mason.
The holdovers are Harrell, Shamsid-Deen, Wade, and Canada.
Out of these guys, I cut Canada. TSD is a Soph and pretty decent with a high ceiling, Harrell is a flat out scorer with good range and makes FTs, Wade is long and athletic with good range, just needs coaching.
Canada is a Senior who's not in good shape, not athletic, can't score, doesn't defend. He has no skillset, and no eligibility. He's cut.
Now the Forwards...Bowers, Purchase, and potentially Logwood coming in...Thompson, Atewe, and Granger are holdovers.
IMHO, Granger is the one you cut. Atewe is big and raw but boards and defends. Thompson plays hard and can hit open shots from deep.
Granger brings no skills to the table. I don't ever remember seeing him have a good game since he's been at AU...has he? Not enough to merit a roster spot even if he has.
Canada and Granger are your 2 cuts if logic and the eye test are part of CBPs criteria.

I agree that Canada and Granger are the 2 least likely to contribute. The reason I say Delph is that Pearl has been disappointed in his work ethic and attitude. Pearl is looking to rebuild us through recruiting and with that in mind it doesn't make a lot of sense to cut a Sr and a Jr since they will be gone soon anyway.
Fwiw I have seen a couple of people that claim to know Thompson's dad say that he is looking to transfer due to having his scholarship pulled. I can't personally vouch for the credibility of any of those people and hope they are wrong but the story is out there.

Has it been pulled already? If we don't keep him I'll be pissed, he's a decent 4 and we have no size as it is.

I don't know. Reading his twitter makes me think it's not true. He is still on campus and working out everyday. He is in the gym with Bowers as I type this.

Alex Thompson is 95% confident his scholarship is safe. Pearl told him the cuts would come from the bottom of the roster and he wasn't near the bototom.

It makes complete sense. If i've got a Sr and a Soph on even plain, I cut the Sr because there's a higher ceiling for the Soph. It's Simple.

But if neither are really the type of kid to get you to the next level then it is better imo to keep the guy who opens up a scholarship sooner even if he isn't as good as the other player.

You can always just cut the sophomore later bro

True but processing players after year one is generally frowned upon. It is also normally bad for chemistry to keep a guy who reportedly doesn't work hard and has a poor attitude over someone that is working their tail off and has bought in. FTR I am fine with whoever Pearl decides should stay on the roster.

Has KC Ross Millers fight against Utah Valley been discussed yet? Just tried to YouTube some highlights and found this. Hopefully he won't be causing any trouble here.

From CBS Sports.
Two coming at Danjel Purifoy the hardest
In a game hyped up by the head-to-head battle between Diamond Stone and Doral Moore, it was Danjel Purifoy who seemed to play the most consistent throughout the 32 minutes.
At 6-foot-6, Purifoy created matchup problems due to his ability to handle the ball and play a point-forward role. He was getting into the lane and finding teammates, and his mid-range game is also difficult to handle.
"It just came to me," Purifoy said of his playmaking ability. "I went to one camp in Vegas and started handling the ball and they told me to keep doing it."
Maryland, Michigan, Georgia, Wichita State and Kentucky are all showing varying levels of interest, but Purifoy said two SEC schools are coming at him the hardest: Ole Miss and Auburn.
He recently tripped to Auburn.
"I went there for a visit three weeks before we came up here," Purifoy said. "It was a good experience."
Purifoy, ranked No. 54 in the 247Sports Composite, averaged 12.4 points and 6.4 rebounds on the Under Armour circuit this spring.

What is the cut off date for us to get to the magic number on scholarships? Aren't we still over by 1?
Posted on 8/4/14 at 4:12 pm to WDE24
We can only have 13 on scholarship when classes start on August 18th. Yes we are still one over.
Posted on 8/4/14 at 7:52 pm to marshallcotiger
Who do you think is the odd man out? Canada?
Posted on 8/4/14 at 8:00 pm to WDE24
It should def be a guard just from a numbers standpoint but BP was raving about how good Canada has been
