Just let Brandon Allen hold it, he won't be able to throw it down hard enough to do any real damage, might scuff it a bit at most.

I had a mild audible chuckle over this.

You won't need to buy toilet paper, but you might want to buy some Bandaids and Neosporin because you're wiping your arse with printer paper.

I'm not a defensive guy so be gentle with me.

quote:

what would Lion or Ram call mean on defense and what is the determining factor in this call being made?

Depending on the coach could it not mean many different things? A L/R LB blitz depending on what your base defense is. OLB's in the 4-3 or ILB in a 3-4. It could also mean a left or right slant call for a DL.

quote:

- over cover 2. What is the free safeties responsibility?

Is this a trick question? It should still be deep half on the weak side no matter what front is called.

quote:

- if a defensive lineman is pinching, what is he doing?

Adjusting/sliding inside. 5 to 3, 3 to 1 and so on.

If you are running a 4-4 type D, Lion and Ram (stands for left and right) are the names given for the inside 2 linebackers. Sam - strong side, Will - weak side | Determining what side is strong side and weak side depends on where TE is lined up.

In middle school for plays on offense we used Reggie and Larry to tell strong side/weak side - like Reggie 36 sweep
quote:

- over cover 2. What is the free safeties responsibility?

Covering deep half of the field on weak side. Staying deeper than the deepest and wider than the widest WR. Don't think about the run until ball carrier crosses line of scrimmage.

quote:

- if a defensive lineman is pinching, what is he doing?

Moving closer to the center than normal tech the player plays.

Cook is a guard again? That's surprising.

Link to Spring Media Guide

There are some interesting tidbits in there about last season.

quote:

Underclassmen accounted for 91.7 percent of Arkansas’ total rushing yards, 90.2 percent of total offense, 88.3 percent of total passing yards, 98.5 percent of kickoff return yards, 78.9 percent of all-purpose yards, 58.6 percent of receiving yards, 60.0 percent of touchdowns scored and 50.0 percent of forced fumbles and fumble recoveries.

quote:

Arkansas allowed 8.0 sacks in 2013, the lowest single-season total in school history and the second straight year an offensive line coached by Sam Pittman only allowed 8.0 sacks. The previous Arkansas low was 9.0 in 2006.

quote:

Arkansas averaged 5.28 yards per carry in 2013, the 4th-highest single- season average in school history.

Brignoni moved to LB @ 6'1 206

His paperwork might be sitting in an inbox somewhere in the FOC.

Tevin Beanum is up to 267lbs.

Alan D'Appolonio is now a Sr. Living the dream. He's been super solid as a walk on Long Snapper.

Demetrius Dean is somehow still on the roster. listed at 6'3 282.

Marks is up to 303lbs, arrived to campus at 270ish.

We have a ton of walk ons from the Metroplex, maybe it's steps towards pulling top recruits from there again.

The most surprising to me is how much weight Philon and Peters lost 10 lbs and Philon lost 17

Otis said on 247 that Philon played at 280 last year and not 300. He said his knees were hurting all the time at 300 so they had him lose weight. That was when he started excelling.

Hands down the most perplexing player I've seen in years. The kid just seems to not care but doesn't want to leave Fayetteville to play elsewhere. No way you can run off a local kid either so the coaching staffs hands are kind of tied.

This spring is his chance to actually make some noise. We only have four scholarship TE's going through spring practice so the coaches are going to be forced to play him no matter what. He needs to take advantage of this or he'll never play here for the rest of his time.

I'd rather play any walk on TE than him

Maybe they keep him around for comic relief, I hear he's a real cut up.

Can he tackle?

Looks like a prototypical middle LB to me.

I think the fact that they let Demtrius Wilson have the exact same number as him should tell you exactly how much playing time Dean is going to get next season.
