If my phone breaks while covering practice, I expect everyone here to chip in and buy me a new one.

I want to hear embellishments about plays and players that are so creative Steven King would be jealous.
Only then can you take on the #uglyunclemediaempire.

'm glad the media will be allowed at practice so every single media member in the state doesn't bitch about it like last year. It got ridiculous especially with Bo's show. For example, someone would call in and ask about the quarterback rotation, and Dudley or whoever would fire back with "WE DON'T KNOW BECAUSE PRACTICE IS CLOSED!"
No kidding.
Last year, I got to the point where I was hoping Bielema would open practice, not because I thought the media should be granted access but because it'd make them STFU with their incessant complaining about it.

The thing about the open practices was you were getting better practice reports from messageboard posters than you were from the media.

Truth. I have always wanted to know what percentage of the media that follows the Hogs actually played football. Even only a year or two would be fine. Just some sort of experience so you kind of know what you're taking about.
I had a guy "in the know" on another board yesterday tell me that a Tampa 2 and a Cover 4 were the same thing. Smh. People actually look up to this guys knowledge too. It amazes me sometimes.

Our sports media's lack of schematic knowledge when it comes to football is breathtaking.

It isn't as bad as the lack of knowledge in the media about basketball.
So, since its on TV it must be true, so it becomes "fact".
You have someone who believes what they hear because they do not have a real knowledge and understanding of the game repeat what they hear and condemn differing opinions even when shown statistically and factually how it isn't a definite thing like they think.
I remember Mike Irwin going off on this radio show Petrino's first spring because better factual practice reports were being posted on HiV of all places. They were obviously opinion based, but were honest accounts of what they saw.
Irwin goes off on his radio show about how none of them knew the x's and o's of the game, there for didn't know what they were talking about, etc. the next thing you know every time they posted a report new accounts started trying to have massive x's and o's debates derailing the threads and the posters eventually quit posting what they watched in practice.
But #uglyunclemediaempire talking about crazy 4 TE formations with indescribable routes being ran that was unstoppable by a defense that was shutting the offense down with great LBer play the plays prior in different formations was OK and accepted.

Was ugly uncle the one who tried having some "outsiders" practice report deleted and then backtracked when the board as a whole went ballistic on him? I believe the then just merged the guys thread in to his to make it look like all was good.

@TomMurphyADG 3m
Listening to Ark baseball pregame and DVH says OF Joe Serrano (ankle sprain) and SS Brett McAfee (back) are out of the lineup tonight
Razorback Baseball ?@RazorbackBSB 2h
OF Joe Serrano will not start tonight due to an ankle injury that occurred during Wednesday's practice. His status for the weekend is TBD

Yep, that's him. His reports were/are always terrible because they're absurdly blantant in their homerism. Offense is devastating the defense, our team is unstoppable, [insert player who ends up never seeing the field] is the next [insert all time great Razorback], etc.

I'm going to try and make it to a few weekend shindigs and do a write up or two on them.

You do that.
I'll print it off the interwebz.
Then I won't have to buy toilet paper for a while.

There are tons of media that don't have the slightest clue about any formations on offense and certainly have no clue on defensive formations.
+1000 to anyone who can tell me the answers to these football terms....
On defense.....
- what would Lion or Ram call mean on defense and what is the determining factor in this call being made?
- over cover 2. What is the free safeties responsibility?
- if a defensive lineman is pinching, what is he doing?

The lions and rams don't play defense.

Help out the corners when they get burned on their route.

Was prairie doggin, but then recovered a fumble and ran for a touch down.
