Tuscaloosa News article

quote:

“I get tired of throwing against them because some of them are so locked in, you can’t throw anything over the plate or they’re going to hit it,” said Turnbull, who takes the mound tonight against Saint Louis in Alabama’s season opener

quote:

“A lot of the guys are hitting balls off the scoreboard almost every weekend, and you’re like, ‘I don’t know where that’s been the last few years but I’m glad it’s here now,’” he said.

quote:

“Overall, the offense has really picked up and I’m really impressed with how locked in they are right now,” he said. “I’m really excited because it’s not something we’ve had the two years I’ve been here before. Right now, they’re as sharp as I’ve ever seen them.”
quote:

“I think that’s an area we really feel like there are going to be improvements, the offensive side. Particularly, we feel like we’re much more physical than we’ve been in the last few years,” Alabama coach Mitch Gaspard said. “We’ve hit more balls out of the park and doubles this fall and early spring than we’ve hit in many years.

Alabama's lineup tonight:

7 Blanchard
8 Salem
6 White
9 Moore
DH Wass
4 Overstreet
3 Smith
2 Haynie
5 Vincent

SP Turnbull

Interesting to see how Blanchard performs in the leadoff role, I'd expected Salem to be in that spot all offseason. It just makes our lineup that much deeper if he is able to hold down that spot in the order, he certainly has the leadoff skill-set.

Interesting have Blanchard batting first. I guess will see how he does. Also a little surprised with Haynie at 8th.

Turnbull 4 Ks, 0 walks, only 1 infield hit allowed thru 3.

We left 4 runners on in the first two innings.

Here's a look from the new right field seating. BYOB

And a tweet from Aaron Suttles:

Pretty obvious from the coolers and red solo cups that once the weather turns the right field plaza will be a fan favorite this season.

Ben Moore had an RBI double in the 3rd scoring Salem, who's 2 for 2. 1-0 Alabama after three innings, now in a weather delay We've left 6 runners on base thru three. Depending on the length of the delay Turbull could be done.

I hope Turnbull can come back because he is looking good early on , but I am very interested to see what the bullpen looks like.

Yea it sucks this rain came, but I really doubt they bring Turnbull back. No need to put that stress on his arm the first week of the season.
