Although it feels pretty important. Can't win without talent.

At least if you're Muschamp.

If Muschamp is still around, recruiting will not be an issue.

Because our program will be toast?

Since this is the recruiting board I will continue to update the board with info on committed players and players we are trying to get including the comments they make after games we lose. If you think what is happening now isn't affecting recruiting you are delusional if you think we are doing OK as the University of Florida right now in recruiting you are delusional.

IF that was directed toward me: I am unbelievably worried about our program from a recruiting standpoint.

I personally called for Muschamp getting fired last year, but in our current state we gotta keep him.

I would not want to be a big name head coach coming to Florida, and it hurts to say that.

It was not directed towards you. But recruiting matters and if you don't want to talk about the real state of the program then don't get on a message board that does that. After 4-8 and seeing how the team as a whole played the last two games I realized that we are in serious trouble. I wanted Muschamp back I was gonna give him the benefit of doubt but not anymore. I agree we got to keep him for the remainder of the year but knowing what that can potentially do to us for the next 2-3 yrs bothers me.

Update on Byron Cowart. Per GatorNation

1. For the longest time, it seemed like Byron Cowart of Seffner (Florida) Armwood was about to become a Florida Gator (and most think he still will be), but the five-star defensive end says he does not have a leader anymore and has pushed an anticipated fall decision all the way back to Jan. 2 at the Under Armour All-America Game. Cowart has already visited Maryland and is scheduled to visit Alabama on Oct. 17, Florida on Nov. 14, Oregon on Nov. 21 and Florida State on Nov. 28. Those dates could change, especially the Oregon visit because of conflicts with high school activities, but Cowart stressed he’s going into these trips with an open mind.

2. An X factor in Cowart's recruitment is definitely going to be ESPN 300 athlete Ryan Davis. Cowart is close friends with Davis, and the two visited Maryland together and Cowart said they will also be in Gainesville and Tallahassee on the same weekend. Davis doesn’t seem to be in a major rush to make a decision, and one college recruiter said that’s a big reason why Cowart suddenly isn’t either.

Reel is just an old-tyme nice guy who just wants good vibes -- but there's just nothing good to take from our state right now.

I mean, Muschamp has a slim chance to turn everything around, I just don't see it happening.

UK almost slipped one by us, and that was just strange. If we lose to UT like I said, man's gotta go immediately or every recruit we have will be jumping ship.

UT has lost to us 9 years in a row and they are recruiting just fine. Also had 4 losing seasons in a row.

UGA had one of their best recruiting years a few years ago when they went 6-7 losing to UCF in a bowl game.

The wins and losses aren't as impoertant as you might think if you are the flagship univ in your state and have $$$$ we do. Yes we are the flagship btw and don't insult me about the girls school crap. Look at how many collegiate lic plates are sold in Florida and UF kicks the girls school azz....merchandise sales? Ditto...number of fans in the state? Ditto.

Besides the recruiting is so in flux and commitments mean diddie right now....I think we are going to win the SEC east crown...even if we lose to UT. The east winner is going to have 2 losses. Mizzou has only played 1 SEC game and will lose a few...including one in the Swamp. The west is powerful with Bama and Moo State the two best imo with A&M, AU & Ole Miss all neck and neck. Arkie is capable of upsetting someone. UT has to play Bama and at Ole Miss. Mizzou has to play at UF, UGA at home, @ Texas A&M, @ UT and UK & Arkie at home...UGA has to play @ Mizzou, AU, @ Arkie, @ UK, and of course UF in the WLOCP

6 - 7 is different than what we're experiencing.

Florida went 4 - 8, we lost to an FCS who didn't complete a single pass all game and who performed better defensively than us.

We almost lost the year before that to ULL (or at the very least went to overtime).

This year our best win is against Kentucky who, while improved, should not be giving us the fight of their life.

Then we got absolutely manhandled by Alabama, they beat us in every single way except turnovers and we still got beaten by three touchdowns and scored on at will.

Recruits know our head coach is in the dumpster already, we're talking about who is going to replace him and while it may be a little premature, it's going to affect young men.

I love you, you're a good guy on these boards, but we have got to start 1. Winning 2. Playing as a team and 3. Supporting our team and all of the players -- no matter what our bias is.

It is affecting recruiting, and it will definitely do more damage later.

We can logic into whatever our prospective is...to argue is not productive. But I guarantee you that wins and losses do NOT necessarily keep you from great recruiting.

Case in point Straw...and don't argue with me In 1986 we were serving the last year of TV exile by the NCAA police, two freaking years without bowls, TV and severe reductions in schollys...it was the dark ages. Well in 1986 we BARELY escaped a losing record thanks to heroics by Kerwin Bell & Co. Who do we get with the next years recruiting haul? Only the Gatorade Player of the Year Emmitt Smith...AND we already had recruited another Parade AA rb the year before (Octavious Gould)...we WILL recruit the cream of the crop and land a few. We are Florida and damn proud of it.
There is so much more football to be played yet. Your boy Driskel has only started what...about 16- 17 games? That's what a true soph would be around. Folks forget his wasted year in 2011, broken leg and numerous other problems...like sharing reps 50/50 with Brissett. I hate to say this...but we are under a dark cloud and misfortune has found us too often....it may be a testing of our willpower and the Ws will be so much sweeter.
Also, I am tired of hearing how Bama dominated our defense....that's not exactly true and a rewind of game film will prove that. We stuffed Bamas run game for 3 quarters, we forced turnovers because of hard hitting..yes our safety play was horrendous...but that IS correctable and with two weeks to practice...hopefully we have that ironed out.
Lets see what happens...the noise will rise if we lose to UT but Muschamp will get a full year. And he should. The SEC east is not that strong now and we can run the table with two games next in the Swamp....then a week off before the WLOCP.

Folks are going to be surprised by the recruiting haul...why have a lot of top players in Fla not committed? Because they are waiting to see if Muschamp is retained. I think he will be with a 9-2 record and a trip to Hotlanta.

Just was watching the ESPNU high school game between Trinity and IMG Academy and the play by play & color guy were talking about Muschamp being at the game and listing the prospects that have the Gators at the top of their list..3 of the top ten players in the country, Cowart, Ivey and Jefferson plus # 42 ranked Holland who has UF at the the top. We can come out of Feb with a top 3 signing class.

Based on recent reports. Cowart is an FSU lean on the majority of recruiting sites I look at. Jefferson although always being thought of as a Gator for sure he has expressed increased interest in Ole Miss. A lot of talk with Ivey is about his upcoming visit to Auburn where one of his best friends Cox currently plays. Holland is a big need especially if Adonis Thomas is wavering on his committment since the Bama game.
All of these guys still have a great shot to be a gator just need a strong finish.

Well hell we are doomed I guess. Probably aren't going to flip anyone who is committed to someone else and finish 34th in the country recruiting.

Maybe I should watch the volleyball team just to be safe.

Lol no.

Cowart, CeCe, and Holland are UF leans. What sites do you use for info? You may want to avoid them, they are scamming you for money.
