Yes, im aware of this. My point was he isn't "playing". He seems to be too good of a player not to be contributing at one of the two positions considering the lack of talent we have at both. Just sayin..

Again, it takes time to learn. He may be redshirting this year.

When they moved Langley they didn't expect him to start right away or even make an impact at all. Would you just want to throw him back on defense now? Even though he hadn't practiced with the defense all fall? Jesus...

Ball, Richt, and Bobo aren't going to let anyone play WR until they've learned the calls, the proper routes, the proper technique, and how to block down field. Only guys like AJ Green and Malcolm Mitchell get to bypass those requirements (and even then they've usually already got the routes and techniques down and get the playcalls fairly easily). Langely has to prove that he can do all of those things before they'll play him and it takes time to both learn and prove consistency in those different respects. Same goes for Rumph, Shak Williams, Hegedus, etc. McKenzie gets a pass due to playmaking ability, and even then he only was in on two passes against USCe (which may have been a misstep on Bobo's part not to go back to him given the effectiveness of both of those plays). The same rules will apply for all of our receiver commits when they arrive (Godwin may be the exception due to skill).

Great post and solid analysis.
I would also argue that UGA is a little bit short on talent on the defensive line. There are some very capable players there (Drew, Toby Johnson, Atkins) but depth is going to be an issue, I fear, as the season wears on. And even those guys are just not quite where they should be. Yet.
A lot of times you can trace a game like Saturday's back to two or three plays that could've swung the ball the other way. One that hasn't been spoken of too much was in the first half when SC was pinned down on their own goal line. Thompson threw the ball right to one of our D-linemen (not going to call him out) as he (Thompson) was rolling out under pressure.
Had the DL caught it, he walks into the endzone. Those are plays that are difference makers, and a lot of times, talent is the difference in making that play or swatting the ball down.

Ok Recruiting Gurus that call this thread home....how big was the hit we took in recruiting thanks to that shite show in Columbia?
In all honesty, while it was embarrassing to say the least, I assume that most Defensive recruits would be licking their chops at the chance to play super early at UGA...its obvious our defense is lacking in the talent dept.

I don't think it was that bad.. I mean anyone with eyes could see that those were two legit teams that played a tough game.
If anything, you can sell early PT, especially on defense. Because shite, its probably true.

biggest thing we do as fans is over hype single game results or even seasons when it comes to recruiting. Really doesn't mean much to most recruits. I wouldn't worry about that at all. They may have been impressed with the atmosphere and all but I doubt losing that game hurts us much there.

Got CB's for Walker and Rico McGraw today. On the McGraw front apparently Alabama is recruiting another DB that might push McGraw to be a dawg.

Bama definitely wants McGraw. They just might lose him. He and Sheffield aren't mutually exclusive

I still think he signs with UGA but all the visits to Bama and Aub aren't great developments at this point
