Injury Update per JW on TBS:

As we reported early Monday afternoon, Joey Pankake (hamstring) and shortstop Marcus Mooney (concussion) are out for both midweek games.

Second baseman Max Schrock (illness) was questionable on Monday but, we were told on Tuesday, he is likely out against CSU. He's doubtful for Wednesday's game against The Citadel as well.

Junior Connor Bright, the primary candidate at second base, is still nursing a hyperextended elbow. He will be a game time decision on Tuesday.

If Bright can not play, it is likely DC Arendas will play shortstop, Jordan Gore at second base and Elliott Caldwell at third base.

This lineup tonight really has looked awful, we need these guys back desperately. Wouldnt have been surprised if CSU finishes this off but they've completely dominated.

More awful news on the injury front:

quote:

The news continues to get worse for South Carolina's injured quartet. Sophomore Max Schrock (illness) returned to the lineup on Wednesday but the pain in his back also returned. Schrock was lifted from the lineup after two at-bats, both strikeouts, but he left because of injury, not ineffectiveness.

Maybe out for the rest of the season.

quote:

Bright, who has a hyperextended elbow, "could be (out) a long period of time, too," according to head coach Chad Holbrook

quote:

Junior Joey Pankake (hamstring) took batting practice prior to the 10-8 loss to The Citadel on Wednesday night and "did fine," according to Holbrook.

quote:

The second-year head coach also confirmed our earlier report that shortstop Marcus Mooney will miss the Auburn series.

Jesus the injuries this year.

Cone with a clutch single, runner on the corners w/ 1 out for English. Would love to see a safety squeeze here.

Down 2-1

Well not sure what Holbrook was thinking in the 7th, cost us a chance to tie it. Koop done after 7+, great outing.

Was huge for both the true freshman to come through in those spots.

Yeah it's a relief to get the W but we have to get out of being this kind of team. We've been having to crawl out of all kinds of holes this year. Early in the year we seemed to always be able to do it, now it's hit and miss. Can't keep this up for too long.
