How do you want him to respond? Why would we switch our backup qb's position? All we have behind him are true freshmen.
Where did I say switch positions? I was just wondering if he played a position like LB in high school and y'all possibly tried him out there at some point? Maybe like when he first came to Starkville? Coaches try players out at different positions all the time. Here's a situation:
Let's see what he's got at LB. What if he is an absolute stud? Recruit two capable QB's and put him over there. We moved Mackey his senior year with Bo having no experience and only Brunetti to back him up(who was a miserable passer).
It was just a question and a compliment to your strength program or his work ethic.

Yeah, Damian seems to be a hard working guy. Hopefully he gets to be the starter his senior year.

REBEL5 AC is ruining this thread but that was expected.

So apparently we had a DB from Louisiana try to commit last night.
Shun Brown. 3* from Shreveport, LA. Apparently Paul said something on twitter last night about his offer not being commitable and his high school coach started tweeting at Paul defending the kid. Pretty awkward situation but I can't find the coach's twitter and Paul seems to have deleted his tweets about it.
Also, Anfernee Mullins did this same thing a while back and yesterday when Talty wrote the story about him committing to South Alabama he said that he had "decommitted" from Mississippi State. Shortly after that there was a story about "Was he ever actually committed to Mississippi State".
@ all of this.
ETA: Here's the twitter exchange. AWKWARD.

We have obviously reached that Notre Dame/Alabama status where kids just grow up dreaming of playing for us.

You're class is great, I'm jealous of y'alls recruiting month, engie pls, Damian Williams would kick everybody's arse, and Damian Williams could play LB. I think that about covers any post I've made. If that's ruining the thread, then you are just simply looking for fights to pick with me, but I won't bite. I'm here to discuss the greatness of y'alls current class and future recruiting news...and Damian Williams, if you'd like. He scary.

I just hope we've got Leo, Bates, Campbell, and Adams as sealed up as the staff seems to think we do. Passing on some pretty good DE(Bonner and Walker) and LB(Caban) prospects for them...

Wait, so how is this going to play out? This is a sticky situation. I went to his twitter. He's all mississippi state decked out.

When he finally contacts the coaching staff, he will figure it out.
I don't really feel bad for him. He should have done it the same way every other recruit does. Call the coaches and talk to them before you put it all over twitter. That assistant coach is going to look pretty dumb when they find out too.

He could walk on. Or invent a time machine and go get a scholarship from Croom.

I still think that if we told Walker on January 31st he could sign with us, he would.
I'm not really enamored with Bonner, but I agree on Caban, although he doesn't really have any high profile commitable offers either so he may be in the same boat with Walker.

I don't get the love for this guy. I know he has good highlight, but he didn't run well at camp plus he's not the tall rangy lb type Juicy Geoff likes.
Leo Lewis is a ton better.

I imagine we are going to slow-play him. It's pretty obvious that we're trying to avoid outright rejecting him. Rumor is that he had arguably the best day among DBs at Big Dawg Camp, but he doesn't have the prototypical size we like in corners, and we've already got Smitherman and Stamps in this class. Smitherman is even a little undersized for what we really like outside(as is Jamerson Love really -- rumor is that Will Redmond might be far enough along to bump Jamerson back to nickel corner where he played his first 2 years -- a move that I really like in theory). I think the only other CB that is an absolute take for us right now is Deshawn Raymond, and we'd have to make room for that one somehow.
I'm not saying there is any real volatility there -- and haven't heard anything to make me believe it -- but Smitherman is probably about to be named a top 10 overall player in the state of Alabama. Anytime you have that, you have to have some degree of planning in case the home schools coming calling...

Well...I think everyone here agrees Lewis is better. It's just we don't want to whiff on Lewis, and not have a backup plan.

Ehhh. Jamerson is a beast. With that being said, Redmond is pretty good himself. I don't see Jamerson not starting, but it's a good problem to have for sure.

I agree with this. But instincts like Leo and Caban have can not be taught. It jumps off the screen in their videos. Of course we're fine passing on him if we get Lewis, but if we don't, we're left with a bunch of safety/LB hybrids for Wells' spot, with likely no true MLB in the class. That'd leave us with Richie and Gerri as the only 2 on roster next year, assuming Gerri plays there.
