If you could only have one out of Thompson or Ivey which would you choose?

Thompson. Our OT depth overall is better than our DT depth IMO. Plus barring injury we play 2 OTs a game where as Garner wants to play 6 DTs a game if he has enough quality guys to do that.

I think that is what he meant. Redshirt, play 2 years, and gone.

The point was that we weren't going to redshirt him.

And if we don't redshirt him, he *can't* be two years and done.

From a neutral basis I would choose Ivey > Thompson because I believe top-notch OTs are so ungodly important in our system.

Considering the current Auburn roster? Thompson > Ivey.

That was not the point. As I said before, the OP was misleading albeit unintentional.

It certainly was the point at the time I made my initial reply.

Yes, you rebutted it *later*, but your later rebuttal was not the point to which I was replying.

John Sullen just signed with the Giants, Brannigans favorite.

one of the best things about landing Ivey, if we get him, is that his school policy makes it where once he commits he is COMMITTED. No more visits, etc. Huge plus for us to know he's locked up.

I always find it funny that a school thinks it can dictate a players recruitment.

I think it's Apopka staff policy not school policy FWIW. And no matter where the policy comes from it's a good idea. It teaches the kids to do thorough research and be 100% sure befire committing no matter how long that takes.

If a player doesn't like it, he should transfer. I think the high school coach is doing a noble thing by making his players think, TRULY think, about their decision and making them stick with it. Obviously concessions could be made if the coach is fired, etc. but do your damn research before committing if you're concerned.

How are they in any way alike?

John Sullen was a bad football player, Michael Sam was a damn good SEC talent.
