Well, okay, but why are you saying that?

Exhibit A should be Crompton. He was a shitty QB before Kiffin, and he became a somewhat decent QB with Kiffin. Give good QBs with actual potential Kiffin, and you get rings.

Cam > Kiffen

I wasn't really after comparisons but there is a point in that Cam has direct results in Rivers, Brees, Flacco, and Zach jumping 50 points in efficiency, That's what I'm trying to ascertain about Kiffin.

It seems he's the only exhibit. A Vol fan said it was Kiffin who worked with him, but I find it odd they had a QB coach (Reaves) at the time.

An informed post. Thank Gawd.

So, in your opinion, UA's new QB's are going to struggle during his tenure?

Cam has this.

quote:

Barkley started as a true freshman w/o Kiffin there.

And then never progressed and finally regressed ala Ron Pawlus.

Kiffin made Barkley worse and turned the best wide receiver in the country into a pile of after-thought dung.

Kiffen has this.

All these people claiming Kiffen can coach up QB's don't really make any sense. Crompton was better in Kiffen's only year at UT, but that wasn't too hard to accomplish. However, he took Barkley (who was considered almost a lock for a future heisman coming out of high school) and coached him straight into mediocrity. Barkley has come out and said as much himself about Kiffen.

I said this in another thread, but Kiffin did a great job with Crompton. Not a great play caller imo, but serviceable I guess.

Why is everyone so fixated on the negatives of Kiffin? He has plenty of positives as well. See 05/06 at USC. His single year at Tennessee the offense jumped from 3200 yards the year before his arrival to 4900 yards in his only year at TN. 2010/2011 at USC weren't awful offensively either. Sure it's fun to bash, it's ok to be concerned, but it's equally important to be realistic. The guy isn't some blowhard when it comes to offense.

Matt Barkley improved each of his first two years under Kiffin and would have been a first round pick after his Jr season. He dropped some his senior year, mainly interceptions though. He still had his second highest QB rating that year though.

I don't know what to tell you about Kiffins ability to develop QBs, because to be quite honest I don't know much about Kiffin outside of what everyone else knows. I just hope he isn't as terrible as some of you are implying he will be.

It's easy to spot the negatives because that's all that's ever been around him. He's a clown show. Everything about him. You give him credit for 2005. A year in which he had 2 heisman trophy winners on an NFL offensive roster that had already been coached by Chow and Sarkesian. This cat is a coattail rider in every sense. I'll permanently bam myself if Kiffin is a success at Bama.

Some of you should post less or try not to act like you actually have a clue about CFB when you post.

2009 Before Kiffin arrived
NAME CMP ATT YDS CMP% YDS/A TD INT RAT
Matt Barkley 211 352 2735 59.9 7.77 15 14 131.3

2010
NAME CMP ATT YDS CMP% YDS/A TD INT RAT
Matt Barkley 236 377 2791 62.6 7.40 26 12 141.2

2011
NAME CMP ATT YDS CMP% YDS/A TD INT RAT
Matt Barkley 308 446 3528 69.1 7.91 39 7 161.2

2012
NAME CMP ATT YDS CMP% YDS/A TD INT RAT
Matt Barkley 246 387 3273 63.6 8.46 36 15 157.6

quote:

Kiffin made Barkley worse and turned the best wide receiver in the country into a pile of after-thought dung.

Again do not post your opinion as fact.

2010
NAME REC YDS AVG LONG TD
Robert Woods 65 792 12.2 61 6

2011
Robert Woods 111 1292 11.6 82 15
Marqise Lee 73 1143 15.7 59 11

2012
Marqise Lee 118 1721 14.6 83 14
Robert Woods 76 846 11.1 41 11

Woods had an ankle injury that lingered all during the 2012 season and even then his production was up from his first year under Kiffin.

Lets also remember Kiffin before the 1st game as HC at USC was hit with 30 less scholarships over 3 years. And the 2010 season played with only 71 on scholarship. So I would think going into year 4 it might take effect.

quote:

Did anyone watch USC's offense

So I guess my question to you is did you ever watch USC's offense while Kiffin was there from 2010-2012?

Because they hope he fails just like they all prayed Saban was going to Texas. Their hope that their team can beat UA has diminished and all they have left is for UA to somehow beat itself.

Again like your brethren that do not follow CFB look at my post and show me where Barkley went backwards under Kiffin. Not your opinion.

Well you posted them but I'll do it again since you missed them.

quote:

This season, many feel Barkley has regressed. The stats corroborate some of that

quote:

2011:
Completion %: 69.1
yards: 3528
TD: 39
INT: 7

2012:
Completion %: 63.6
yards: 3273
TD: 36
INT: 15

from Barkley's own words:
quote:

"(Coach Lane Kiffin) kind of suited the play-calling toward Marqise," Barkley told Michael Silver at Yahoo! Sports. "It was rough at times, because defenses kinda knew what was coming. It was sort of predictive. Robert Woods is a great player. ... You want to be respectful of your coaches, because they are your elders, but when it falls on your shoulders, you probably should get involved."
