Bo Jackson being a great baseball player has nothing to do with being the greates college football player.

People on here have used terms like Consistent when describing Cam. He had some below average games that year.

The Alabama game alon, known for the comeback, Should be just as known as an incredible second half defensive performance.

Johnny was just 1 more stop away from winning all but 1 of his games in college. (26 Games)

To say that he has to win games by scoring 50 or more a game is pretty unfair.

Cam won games with following scores:
17 - 14 MSU
27 - 24 OT vs. Clem
24 - 17 LSU
28 - 27 Alabama
22 - 19 Oregon

The A&M defense only held teams to less than 28 points 2 times this year.

Cam won 5 games scoring 28 or less.

A&M scored less than 40 2 teams

A&M lost 2 games that scored more than 40.

Beginning at the 1:55 mark of this podcast Bruce explains that Cam used to be the best player he had ever seen. That opinion has now changed. Bruce goes on to explain his firm conviction that JFF is the GOAT.

Bruce is probably the most revered college football writer in the country. Show me another more highly regarded. His opinion is worth infinitely more than any consensus this community reaches on the subject.

With that being said I'm announcing that the debate over the SEC's best QB in history has been suspended. The fallacious arguments about championships (JFF's lack of which are in no way his fault) not only miss the mark but are intellectually dishonest. It's difficult to articulate how far short they come to carrying the day.

The discussion may re-open if a writer of Bruce's class hereafter contradicts his very direct statement. That statement again being that JFF is the GOAT. Unless and until that happens, Bruce's opinion will serve as binding precedent on this issue.

Thank you.

I agree. Vick was the best I'd seen until Cam. Cam was the best I'd seen until JFF.

Well I mean if Feldman said it...then that's it...JFF IS THE BEST COLLEGE PLAYER OF ALL TIME but he couldn't even get close to winning the big games.

Best players ever win big games.

Nooo...I'm not bashing the young man. I think he's an incredible player but to be the best ever you have to win your big games and such.

Ahhh. Got it. I misunderstood.
Johnny hasn't really played in any "big" games (other than bowl games--during which he single-handedly carried his entire team [apart from the hideous defensive squad] to victory).

I don't see the SEC Rant point of crowning someone the GOAT in every single quantifiable category under the sun.
Big ol' pissing contest over here.

Oh I know man..the kid has been incredible in bowl games but you're right about him not playing in many big bowl games. I was mainly talking about the big games of the season. Auburn...LSU...Alabama. If yall would've had some sort of defense I think those games could've when yalls way...except for maybe the LSU game lol.

This is the ultimate way to decide if JFF is the GOAT...

What kind of stats Kenny Hill puts up next year.

If he puts up similar numbers....and wins....

Then it goes to show Sumlin deserves more credit for his system.

Florida got worse without Tebow. Auburn got worse without Cam. Even now that Gus is back and Marshall is the starter....no one is discussing Marshall on that level.

Sumlin has always had QBs put up big numbers. He was with Kolb, Keenum, to JFF.

If Kenny Hill puts up similar production.....

Then again....JFF could be Tebow and Kenny Hill could be Cam (without the getting kicked off part)

So an aggie proclaims Feldman as the definitive expert on the history of college football. I assume it's just a coincidence that Feldman picks JM as the best player in the history of college football, right?

And like Bo at AU, LSU has Billy Cannon, who played both ways 90% of the time. Cannon was an all American & a heisman winner too. Plus, an all American in track to boot. The Old Ball Coach at UF was right up there, too.

Don't speak when you have no idea what you are talking about, okay?

Auburn 2010 Defense
24.5 pts a game, 362 yards

Texas A&M 2012 Defense
30.9 pts agame, 462 yards

I don't know how things would have shaken out regardless because Manziel did get injured. I'm fairly certain A&M beats Bama with Auburn's '10 defense, they beat Missouri, and they'd beat Auburn as well.

Bingo. Strong chance A&M ends the season (prior to a bowl) with just 1 loss.

Well Tennessee did win the NC the year after Peyton left, but Tennessee played defense.

If and when JFF stArts a game in the NFL at QB, all a DC has to do is give Chavis a call and ask for his advise and the "tapes". Surely, if Chavis can shut twinkle toes down twice in a row with college level talent, a proo DCcan take 11 pros and make JFFs vagina bleed red.

I would be so pissed if even while having the GOAT at QB, my team played Duke in the Chicken Bowl

So how did that Sugar Bowl game with the Land Thieves work out for you? We found them quite easy last year.
