do not consider 12 TD's, 5 games below 100 yds, 8 games below 200 yds, and less than 2000 yds total much of a vertical "passing game"

Ummm, so you are using cumulative stats to base your argument on?

Pretty smart on your part. You know, since Auburn threw the ball less than 20 times a game (119th in the country). Total yards and total TDs would be the correct and only stat-line to consider.

Me? Personally, I'd look at how effective they were at throwing the ball. Yards per attempt. Yards per completion. You know, those stats that would really show WHAT kind of passing game they had.

I think there are a few Auburn fans here that are confused between vertical threat and vertical passing game. Stats do not back up that claim for vertical passing game . Link all 12 TD's in gifs. 12 is still unimpressive. JJ had 17 TD's and 2000+ as a first year starting QB. I would never consider that a vertical passing game.

Oh you mean when JJ threw the ball over 80 more times than Marshall? Did you know that JJ averaged a full yard less in yards per attempt than Marshall?

Bo Wallace threw for over 3000 yards and 17 TDs. He averaged less yards per attempt and yards per completion than Marshall.

Tyler Wilson threw for over 3600 yards in 2011 and 24 TDs. He averaged the same yards per attempt as Nick Marshall and had a worse TD-attempt ratio.

BUT 3000+ YARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!! VERTICAL PASSING GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!

No doubt. We've all read some insane social media posts from plenty of recruits, but this guy takes the cake. He is all alone on a much different and more incomprehensible level.

If he's getting that out of Siri, maybe he needs to switch to Android.

heck as long as tre mason is there, he is the bell cow if i were the coach, and the play action to him will be unfair. So i think auburns vertical game will be greatly improved with D. Williams.

Auburn. LSU just has other priorities/other people not to alienate who are three/four year guys.

If he goes to Auburn, he'll be all conference next year. He's one of the best I've ever seen in La. HS ball.

I think he goes to Auburn, but realistically, I think Auburn's offense will regress a bit next year and not improve. I think teams will now have film on you guys to evaluate the offense more as well as the reasonable possibility that Mason goes pro. People don't realize how great of a RB he is.

Losing Robinson off the OL will have a bigger impact as well, not because Auburn isn't talented, but their depth isn't the levels of Bama and LSU on the OL, so a replacement being as good isn't as likely right off the bat.

In the end, Quille will do well at either school, but I think LSU would significantly prepare him more for the league beyond just talent and putting up numbers. Their offense is more likely what he'll be working under in the NFL and LSU's WRs have proven time and time again to be solid NFL contributors unlike Auburns.

Teams had 3 years of film already.

Shon Coleman will be our LT next season.

GT put the Top 2 NFL Wrs in the league. If you are good, it doesn't matter the offense you run in college.

AU's depth on the OL is on par with anyone in the SEC. Shon Coleman or Patrick Miller will both be formidable replacements.

OTOH DQ Williams will noit be signing tomorrow.

bullshite. No one had 3 years of film on THIS YEAR'S offense. It wasn't the same style that AU ran when Cam was the QB. And if you want to torture yourself by looking back at 2012, by all means, go ahead.

Now, who's to say that Gus doesn't take it in a slightly different direction next year. He's tweaked every year, everywhere he's been. But to equate any of AU's past seasons, GM or not, to this one is at best a stretch. At worst, it's just really stupid and laughable. The point is, the DCs around the league will have a better idea what to do next year with all of AU's major ofensive players likely returning based on this year's film than they would have looking in the greatest hits catalog.

I don't buy the "feared for his life" bit either.

It is true, however. His cousin was killed and his life threatened whether you buy it or not.

He is going to Auburn because they did a good job recruiting him. LSU was back in it for him (because he has doubts about Auburn and the forward pass), but the Iron Bowl sealed things with him.

Nice get, he is a Dez Byrant clone, personality and football wise.

That is fair, considering it is hard to be as good as we were this year. We completely dominated with our rushing game.

They have film from Auburn in 2009, 2010, and 2011...when we ran the exact same offense.

Although it is a loss, Cam Artis-Payne and Corey Grant will be back, plus the addition of 5 star running back Racean "Roc" Thomas.

5 star Shon Coleman can come in off the bench.

Besides, LSU fans told us how terrible Greg Robinson was to start with (not you specifically)...

Must have not watched much football then, Greg Robinson is our biggest in state loss in the Miles era.

I hope that handler was run out of Thibodeaux.

Not really. They had 2 with Gus as OC, and one of those was with Newton that changed everything. This season is different with Malzahn in complete control, and while people think Marshall will get better, Malzahn hasn't shown that he is capable of improving a QB's play from one season to the next.

He's coached at Auburn for 4 years now, and had a different starting QB every season.

Very well could be a great one, but it will be interesting to see. I don't doubt Auburn's ability to put out a very good OL next year, but Robinson was a freak athlete.

Megatron is the best, but no, not the top 2 WRs in the NFL. That said, Thomas and Megatron were the only options in a triple option offense, not a spread offense.

Auburn hasn't had a WR drafted since 2007, and since 2000 has had 1, ONE!, WR drafted higher that the 6th round.

History isn't on Auburn's side. Conversely, Ga Tech has had 4 WRs drafted in the top 3 rounds in that same time frame, and 3 top 2 round WRs since 2007. Big difference.
