It's a start. Most Mizzou fans are happy that the coaching staff is making some in-roads into the SE. Losing Texas as a major recruiting base could have been program derailing if GA and FL recruiting didn't step up.

I agree ATX but I have to believe this one goes to SC. I don't think he's even visited Mizzou yet. I just don't see him committing to a school so far away without visiting first. Really don't think this is a race at all.
I think that's about right. USC got a visit from him in late Nov, we've been by twice since then to check in on him. He said he's still taking his OV's and will go to Mizz with Brown for that visit. I'm not 100% that he commits to SC, but I think that we've just had so many things go our way and point to us that we'd be a logical favorite.

True, I just don't think winning the East had much to do with them.

I hope tweeting your commitment becomes a thing... so much better than the circus of a press conference.

Four-star DE Dante Sawyer has committed to the #Gamecocks, per his Twitter account. @SavageTaee_
Big pickup for USC! We'll be needing to reload our depth at DE after losing Taylor, Clowney, and Sutton over the past 2 seasons. With what we have already committed to come in for 2015 - and expecting Arden Key to also re-commit to us - we'll be stacked once again at DE for the next 4-5 seasons. Dante (along with Jhaustin Thomas) helps get it started off...

Sawyer will be another in a long line of future NFL DE's coming from the Gamecocks!
Abraham
Norwood
Clifton Geathers
Melvin Ingram
Cliff Matthews
Devin Taylor
Clowney
Just the recent ones off the top of my head.

Evidently Kalan Ritchie was doing pretty good things at DE in the Shrine Bowl practices as well. And Wideman flipping wouldn't hurt our D line future either.

Wideman could absolutely play SDE next year as a FR. He's been lighting things up this season and at the Shrine Bowl.
Ritchie is like Crosby and he's just a stud athlete, put him anywhere and he'll have success. Ritchie could play WDE in college, but he's not on Sawyer's level yet, b/c Sawyer has more experience on the DL. This was Ritchie's first season at DE, but he did do really well, you're right.

Good call, totally slipped my mind, and he was a 2nd Rounder too. Probably b/c he went to Detroit during the darkest period of their history.

Sawyer's 247 Commitment Interview (FREE)
"I picked them because of the school," Sawyer said. "They have one of the top business schools, which is what I want to major in. I like being in Cola and just everything about South Carolina."
The Peach State's No. 10 prospect according to 247Sports was recruited to Carolina by his recruiter of record, quarterbacks coach G.A. Mangus and defensive line coach Deke Adams.
"I committed to Coach Mangus last night and he was ecstatic!" Sawyer said.
South Carolina made it's move when Sawyer took his first ever visit to the school last month for the Gamecocks win over Mississippi State.
"It was crazy. I loved it," he said two weeks ago. "I love being in Columbia. I'm going to go back for my official visit. It opened my eyes a lot seeing everything they have to offer."
It is also rumored that CookOut had a big part in Sawyers commitment. He loved the easy access to delicious affordable food, I can't back this up with facts. There is NO CookOut in Columbia, MO or Auburn, AL. (That last part is factual.)

I remember a kid not going to Clemson because they didn't have a Chick-fil-A. I can't remember where he went, but wherever it was had at least one.
