I'm trying to understand the strategy involved.

We have do e it for years and it usually works. I can remember a true freshman in joe barksdale linining up as the guy slightly in the backfield.

I think we would've moved the chains by just sneaking over the top with Jennings - and they would've actually seen the ball.

we've been doing it for a few yrs now, first with JJ, then Ware last yr, and now Jennings. generally works (glaring exceptions being late vs. Bama last yr and yesterday). I think it was implemented after we got stoned on short yardage plays to the RB a few times in 09 with our then-horrendous run blocking.

Leading the nation in third down conversions might have had something to do with it.

If we had run the option to the wide side of the field from that formation, it would have been a TD. There was NO ONE to stop Hilliard if Jennings had to pitch the ball.
