Kyle Fuller doing his best JMatt impersonation by puking 3 times during a game and putting in a clutch performance. That wildman is doing well for himself lately. I'm so glad to see some seniors actually get a decent run out of their last year.

And the Jones slam (off a Siakam pass no less) was #4 on SportsCenter Top 10 plays tonight!

Seven Samurai was the original filmed in 1954 by famed director Akira Kurosawa. It was remade in America in 1960 as the Magnificent Seven and set in the west. It was remade again in 1980 and set in space after the success of Star Wars. Battle Beyond the Stars set on the planet Akir (for Akira) and starred Richard Thomas (John Boy from the Waltons) along with Robert Vaughn and George Peppard. Robet Vaughn played Lee in The Magnificent Seven in basically the same role. In an ironic twist Peppard was supposed to play in the western but Steve McQueen got that spot instead.

If you watch the space version you can see Julia Duffy before she became famous on the Newhart show as Stephanie Vanderkellen.

Kurosawa is one of my favorite directors and made one of my favorite movies Ikiru. If you want to see the "original" Star Wars just watch the 1958 release, "The Hidden Fortress"

Thanks CG, Kurosawa is a favorite of mine as well. And I like the graphic you are using from Seven Samurai, but they are actually referring to the players as The Magnificent Seven...

For the record, I prefer Yojimbo (source material plagiarized for Fistful of Dollars) and Ran (K's take on King Lear) from the Kurosawa oeuvre.

I love Ran! The battle scenes and the colors of the armies was some great cinematography. I also like the bio he did on Mishima, and Phillip Glass did the soundtrack if memory serves. Dream was pretty good too.

Some great scenes in that movie:

life is brief.
fall in love, maidens
before the crimson bloom
fades from your lips
before the tides of passion
cool within you,
for those of you
who know no tomorrow

life is brief
fall in love, maidens
before his hands
take up his boat
before the flush of his cheeks fades
for those of you
who will never return here

life is brief
fall in love, maidens
before the boat drifts away
on the waves
before the hand resting on your shoulder
becomes frail
for those who will never
be seen here again

life is brief
fall in love, maidens
before the raven tresses
begin to fade
before the flame in your hearts
flicker and die
for those to whom today
will never return

Is it possible we make the NCAA tournament? UT is 14-8 and in while we're 13-8 yet out. How many games do we have to win to sneak in? I think we can drop 2 of the remaining 9 at most, and we have to look like a quality team throughout. Then we have to have a good (probably reaching finals) showing in SEC tournament. Sound right?

Yes, but only if we win out and go deep in or win the SEC tournament. I don't think either of those will happen. Maybe an NIT team if things keep going well.

I really hope we win this game. These hogs squeal like little girls. It's pitiful.

ETA: Damn it. We let them find a way to pull it out.

Would love to have a do-over on that first half. But hand it to the piggies, they shot lights out from deep today.

Bad news about the USCe game postponement.
Means only one day of rest before tAggies come to town. Last time we had a Thursday/Saturday turnaround we got that disaster at LSU...

Yeah, we just don't have the depth for quick turnarounds. Dang. The bright spot is that we're playing possibly the worst 2 teams in the SEC. The bad part is that a loss ruins almost any NCAA chance, especially to these jokes.

Ok...this game is just painful to watch. 11-10 Missouri with 9:19 left in the first half. Holy crap

Nice lob and tip in play to end the half on the inbounds from under the offensive basket. 21-20 Vandy at half.

MOATS! Huge 3 with 18 ticks left in game to get within 2. 64-62 Missouri

Final: 67-64 Missori wins. Jones added 2 for us with 2.5 left to make it 66-64. Missouri went 1-2 at line, missing second. Fuller got rebound and got back iron on the heave. Sounded close on radio the way Fisher reacted. Damn it

This team has really been impressive this year with so may issues. A few very close losses that could have made this season even better.

No doubt. I just hope we can beat Auburn tomorrow. I'd like not to be the one loser walking out of the student section. Leaving in that crowd as a winner is much better. They'll probably thank me for doing our part to get rid of Barbee.

That's the truth. I remember leaving Neyland 3 years ago. Freaking sucked. I was all alone.

I would think we'd win, but I figured we'd beat SCAR too.

Yeah, that would have been no fun. We played our worst game all year that day. We should have won that game.

Good luck with that DotP!
