Are you not aware of the Christian theme of LOTR?
You are confusing LOTR with Chronicles of Narnia dude. The whole universe of LOTR was created because Tolkein created an entire elvish language and needed a place to put it. Of course there are WW2 metaphors all over the place given the time period in which they were written, but you are severely overstating the influence of religion on the entire saga that Tolkein created.

No he isn't. That was Tolkien's religious masterpiece, as Narnia was Lewis's. It is heavily based on Christian allegory.

Christian themes in LOTR
quote:
Tolkien once described The Lord of the Rings to his friend, the English Jesuit Father Robert Murray, as "a fundamentally religious and Catholic work, unconsciously so at first, but consciously in the revision."[8] Many theological themes underlie the narrative, including the battle of good versus evil, the triumph of humility over pride, and the activity of grace, as seen with Frodo's pity toward Gollum. In addition the epic includes the themes of death and immortality, mercy and pity, resurrection, salvation, repentance, self-sacrifice, free will, justice, fellowship, authority and healing. The Lord's Prayer, especially the line "And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil", was reportedly present in Tolkien's mind as he described Frodo's struggles against the power of the One Ring.[8][page needed] A specifically Christian influence is the notion of the Fall of man, which influenced the Ainulindalë, the Kinslaying at Alqualondë, and the fall of Númenor.[9]
