I don't know if this has been mentioned, but maybe a reason we struggled in the Arkansas St game was due to the absence of Matt Hoch at DT. He does a solid job against the run, and generating pressure on the QB. Granted we were missing a lot of tackles, but I really think Matt hoch>>> Lucas Vincent. Also does anybody think Randy Ponder being suspended the first half might impact our game plan at all?? Do we play up on the WR's, or do we se play 7 yards off the line of scrimmage ? I thought the freshman played decent in the absence of Randy Ponder

Didn't Ponder'spenalty happen in the first half? And if that's the case, he would have been suspended for the 2nd half of the game and be back the following game, right?

It was early, beginning of the 1st quarter if I remember correctly. Pretty sure he'll be starting.

"The rule in football means that discipline for players flagged for violations will mirror the penalty for fighting. If the foul occurs in the first half of a game, the player is ejected for the remainder of the game. If the foul occurs in the second half or overtime of a game, the player is ejected for the remainder of the game and the first half of the next contest."

shite! I thought it was mandatory half game suspension for the next game as well I was looking forward to seeing more of Aarion Penton. We probably still would have played 7 yards off the line of scrimmage. I really don't understand why we do this when teams like Toledo, Arkansas St, and Vandy all throw bubble screens, and the coaches are confused why we have trouble defending the screens. It's not rocket science, play up on the receivers and take some chances.

We are now in the SEC so we need to dumb these reports down. All we need to know is are we going win or lose!!!

Nice read though

No!

I like the analysis, helps me when I watch the games. It's better than the standard blustering BS you get from the rant.

I'd really like to see them come out and establish the run first this time. Seems like a few games already we pass pass pass right off the bat. It's not that I'm upset with the passing game, would just like to see the running game established earlier. I think it took a couple series before we really started running it last game.

Me too. We have three explosive and exciting backs who can break off a long one at any moment. I hope we get to see more Morgan Steward this year. He seems like a good short yardage guy possibly.

Good Read. I would like to see Coach Steck make some actual on the fly adjustments this week. I really see Mizzou coming out with a chip on their shoulders and hammering Vandy. Not going to be near as close as what Vegas thinks. 42-23 Tigers

Really hope you're right. As has been said, this game will give us a better picture of what this team is all about. If the improvements we've seen(and health) are as significant as I'd like to think, then I think you're right and we beat them by 14+. If the improvements are all smoke and mirrors due to our OOC schedule, it will make for a long season.

Our offense will work and I believe it will work against all the SEC defenses that we've seen (on tv) this year. We have to many playmakers for it not to work. It will all hinge on our D and our ability to react to what Vandy is bringing at us. It is make or break time for Coach Steck.

I agree. The prevent D we've run in the past won't serve us well in this league. We need to play aggressively, and hit hard - below the shoulders.

Seriously, I think the offense will be fine. The defense has me worried when we face a good SEC O like Georgia.

Welcome, CoMoTiger! Don't think I've seen you before! If you have time, check in on the stickied thread. And come back often!

From what I've seen this year, our pass blocking is much better than our run blocking. This could account for why we go to the pass first. I just don't see our linemen making holes.

The only way Dave Steckle is going to make adjustments unfortunately is if his hand is forced (i.e. Andrew Wilson being suspended first half vs Indiana) I actually liked the different defensive look we showed playing with only three defensive lineman because it completely shut down Indiana in the first half. I don't know why we're afraid to make adjustments during the game, or even running the different defense they used against Indiana more often. Maybe Steckle is saving his blitz packages for conference play because it has been pretty non-existent during non-conference portion of our schedule. The thing that irritates me is we drop 8 people in coverage all the time and still get burned!

I think it winds up pretty close. Seems like Mizzou should do fairly well, but the execution has left a lot to be desired for me thus far.

Nice overview...

If the defense can actually tackle somebody, Mizzou is 5-0. Otherwise, it's a coin flip.

Espn currently has the line as Mizzou -2

That seems like a lot of movement over the week.
