re: Bo Pelini's comment on the SEC

There are six, SIX, SEC teams that would win the Big 10 this year.

Bama
LSU
A&M
Georgia
Florida
USC

Ohio State is going to make the national title purely because they play NOBODY. Their toughest game is Michigan. Their second toughest? @Northwestern

And waiting for them in Pasadena will be one of those six teams who will do to them the same thing Florida and LSU did.

So what those outside the SEC have to do to make themselves feel better about themselves is compare the bottom half of the teams in the SEC to the top teams in their own conference.

I was right behind him on a couple occasions.

Nothing he has said is inaccurate.

So what is his point? That Nebraska is better than the bottom half of the SEC?

He sets his goals high, doesn't he?

re: Bo Pelini's comment on the SEC

The problem with Pelini's statement is that the teams that punked Nebraska the past 2 years haven't even won the SEC since 2005 (UGA) or ever (South Carolina).

It's not like he has been losing games to Bama.

I don't, especially after that performance against WISC in Indianapolis.

I'm not sure what they produce the most in Nebraska, Ethanol or Meth? Either way, the fumes has Bo in a daze.

Nebraska is one of those teams that will never again reach what they had in the past.

with the start of scholarship limits and more options for players, Nebraska is sinking. Being in the Big12 kept them afloat because of Texas recruiting. and that's gone.

re: Bo Pelini's comment on the SEC

Responding to a question about the perceived gap between the SEC and everybody else, Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops told the Tulsa World that the bottom half of the 14-team league didn’t have a whole lot to be bragging about.

What’d [the Big 12] have, eight of 10 teams in bowl games this year?” he asked. (It was actually nine teams that earned bowl berths.) “So you’re listening to a lot of propaganda that gets fed out to you. Again, you can look at the top two, three, four, five, six teams, and you can look at the bottom six, seven, eight, whatever they are. How well are they all doing?”

In 2012, the bottom six SEC teams finished 26-47 for a .356 winning percentage and one bowl berth. In contrast, the bottom four teams in the 10-team Big 12, which included TCU, was 21-30 for a .412 winning percentage. Three of those bottom-four teams earned bowl berths.

What Stoops conveniently leaves out is the vast scheduling difference between the 2 conferences in the non conference part of the schedule. While 26-4 OOC looks impressive the Big 12 played only (1) Top 25 team out of 30 games, and that was the Oklahoma loss at home to Notre Dame. 70% of the conference went 3-0 against a soft schedule of kittens and puppies which overinflated the W-L records. Compare that to the SEC OOC schedule last year(and what bowl the opponent wound up in).

Tennessee vs NC State (Music City Bowl)
Auburn vs Clemson (Chick-fil-A Bowl)
Alabama vs Michigan (Outback Bowl)
Kentucky vs Louisville (Sugar Bowl)
LSU vs Washington (Las Vegas Bowl)
Vanderbilt vs Northwestern (Gator Bowl)
Missouri vs Arizona State (Hunger Bowl)
Ole Miss vs Texas (Alamo Bowl)
Arkansas vs Rutgers (Russell Athletic Bowl)
Missouri vs Syracuse (Pinstripe Bowl)
Georgia vs Georgia Tech (Sun Bowl)
Florida vs Florida State (Orange Bowl)
South Carolina vs Clemson (Chick-fil-A Bowl)
Vanderbilt vs Wake Forest (Dores knocked WF out of bowl)

VS

Oklahoma vs Notre Dame (BCS MNC game)
Texas vs Ole Miss (Compass Bowl)
Oklahoma State vs Arizona (New Mexico Bowl)

When the Big 12 starts playing real OOC games then Stoops can crow all he wants about how good or deep the Big 12 is.

Nebraska - last MNC in 1997 (Coaches - and Tom Osborne stopped coaching)
Michigan - last MNC in 1997 (AP - and last one prior was 1949)
Ohio State - last MNC was 2002 (prior to that you have to go back to 1970)

Kentucky - while no football superstar has racked up the following NC's in basketball
1975 - Joe Hall - Championship game
1978 - Joe Hall - Championship
1984 - Joe Hall - Final Four
1993 - Rick Pitino - Final Four
1996 - Rick Pitino - Championship
1997 - Rick Pitino - Championship game
1998 - Tubby Smith - Championship
2011 - John Calipari - Final Four
2012 - John Calipari - Championship

I have a feeling UK fans would rather be UK fans than Nebraska, Michigan, or Ohio State fans as they are in more championship games than the other 3 combined in the current era. I have a funny feeling UK will be playing for another championship before the other 3.
