So do those CWS champs have less of a value than those after 2003?

Is it even possible to lower the value of a college baseball title any lower than it already is?

How about an * goes next to all football championships pre BCS since there was no championship game just polls?

Did you even read my post? I even mentioned how that would be the perception in the future about College Football, pre-play off champs will be devalued by fans. Just like pre AP champs have been devalued, pre BCS champs have been devalued by fans. Mostly fans that don't have any Championship teams.

Damn sensitive bunch in hear.

I know that Roberto Vaz, who was Bama's best pitcher and who hit .400 in '97, missed the CWS after stepping on a baseball and spraining his arch in the super regionals. Making it to the finals without our best player was still a very successful season. My opinion: with a healthy Vaz playing, Bama spanks LSU in the finals - just as they had done in the SEC finals that year.

Well that's pretty debatable. We took the last regular season series at your house to win the regular season SEC. Vaz was playing then, no?

The same way LSU fans try to put an asterisk by half of Alabama's championships?

I did say it was my opinion... however, Bama pounded LSU 12-2 in the SEC tourney finals so I'm confident that Bama beats LSU again in the CWS finals that year with a healthy Vaz. At the time, the SEC tournament was held in Columbus, GA, so there was no "home field advantage" for Bama.

Yeah, that doesn't always work out.

No. If that's the case then all champions in NCAA basketball should get an asterisk too.

Well, they haven't gone to a best of 3 championship series in CBB ; so that's not a good comparison.

I stand corrected, Bama won that final series, but with the Sunday win LSU clinched the regular season SEC title.

LINK

When Vaz pitched that weekend yall won 6-4.

Still, I wouldn't be so confident that yall would've "spanked" LSU at the CWS final with Vaz, especially when LSU won by 7. But who knows.

Those were some epic battles.

It wasn't always a 1 game shootout...maybe if you did your homework we could have a legitimate discussion

Prior to 2003, there was no championship series and only a 1 game shootout for the final two teams. So do those CWS champs have less of a value than those after 2003? It's definitely a better format, especially in a game like baseball.

Pre-2003 baseball champs will have a similar rep as what I expect to happen to opinions on NCs pre play-offs in College Football. Kind of devalued. They are still awesome and a great accomplishment but not always the best team will win in a 1 game series.

Thoughts?

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever read. Were pre-BCS NCs given an asterick? Will pre-playoff NCs be given an asterick? Fvck no.

Is the current system better? Probably although I do like the all-for-one format while acknoledging that the current format gives the best true champion. However, teams that won it previously didn't do it in spite of the system or by cheating. They won fair and square?

Are pre-Wild Card Super Bowls devalued?
