If we had intelligent lawmakers, they would not only legalize weed, they would regulate it and tax the shite out of it like booze. Would be a couple of billion dollars a year in revenue.

Who would have thought that Mississippi would be leading the way in something progressive.

At least compared to the rest of the South.

Texas would make so much money, and save themselves so much money if they stopped being such bitches about weed. I don't even smoke it, but it is such a clusterfrick. Other states need to step up and develop something and show that it works. How's Colorado doing?

sadly this affects me. the fact that we as a "free society" will voluntarily pay for "protectors" of the state to imprison non-violent (property or person) for something that is seriously less offensive than things that are legal (cigs and alcy).

It's a load of horseshite. We are nothing but serfs to the oligarchy of the corporate world. Big Tobacco and the Alcohol industry have kept one of the world's most beneficial plants (cheaper paper, better rope, better clothes, a fuel precursor, and overall--better life) sidelined for greed.

Under God? or Under the foot of tyrants.

making bank. And they don't have to spend such ridiculous money to enforce, convict, and imprison harmless users.

Texas needs to jump on this.

If I could find the article I'd show you how CO is doing. Gimme a few.

But in a nut shell, they used money from marijuana to build/renovate schools.

You realize this is all irrelevant as federal law trumps state law, right?

Until the federal government changes it's marijuana laws, it doesn't matter if every state legalizes pot.

Paper companies in the 30's had a strong hold on hemp. I'll find that article too.

You're right though. Big corporate is controlling this country. I'm a conservative (of sorts) and can even see this.

Not too much longer though. The a American people are realizing more and more.

It's still "illegal" to casually smoke pot in Colorado. The federal government can arrest you in any state for marijuana possession regardless of state law.

Feds aren't raiding individuals. They're raiding dispensaries. Yes, I'm very aware. I'm not worried about the feds busting me. I'm worried about the cop who pulls me over when I've got a little nugget in my glove box.

The fes have no qualms with busting individuals discovered or divulged in the process of busting distributors. State police also have tons of loopholes that allow them to arrest you and turn you over to them.

The bottom line is that people are still busted for pot in Colorado every day. The law is a nice gesture that is essentially meaningless.

on top of the amount of money it produces in taxes it would cut down on prison population causing a reduction in spending.
