Nice try, but here was that schedule. Note how many games were played @ home and scores run up against inferior opponents. Michigan played 8 of 11 @ home and played 2 of 11 at favorable neutral sites (Toledo is just over the state line from Detroit) and Chicago is full of UM grads. That team only played 1 team in their home city and UM probably had more fans.

Dores were actually an early powerhouse in college football. It was the longhorns inability to beat them at the State Fair that led TX to schedule OU instead (Dores affected the RRR) and they owned outright or shared over a dozen early conference titles. If that was not enough it was a Vandy guy that sowed the seeds for the future SEC when he was at Vandy.

The best two teams I've seen since then are the 2011 Alabama and LSU teams.
Best on paper is the 1995 Huskers (by on paper, I mean based on stats not the roster).
2011 SEC was deeper than the 2001 Big East or 1995 Big 8. I'd be surprised to see unbiased fans debate that LSU's 2011 schedule >>> than 1995 Nebraska's and/or 2001 Miami's. LSU dominated every opponent but #2 ranked Alabama. Miami nearly lost to 8-4 Boston College and 8-4 Virginia Tech. They were hardly unbeatable. 1995 Nebraska predominated their schedule. 2011 LSU would have an argument if they had a strong passing game; that would have helped them beat Alabama better on 11/5. A more convincing victory in Tuscaloosa would have given Oklahoma State the edge it needed to beat Alabama in the polls. LSU would have blown out Oklahoma State and be renowned as potentially the GOAT.

In the final minutes, down by four and facing 4th-and-goal at the Texas 1, Joe Namath ran a quarterback sneak but was stopped short of the goal. In the Cotton Bowl Classic, Arkansas quarterback Fred Marshall drove #2 Arkansas to a touchdown with 4:41 left to beat #6 Nebraska 10-7. Notable members of the 1964 Arkansas team include Jerry Jones, later the billionaire owner of the Dallas Cowboys of the NFL, and Jimmy Johnson, whom Jones would hire as coach of the Cowboys. #5 Michigan routed #8 Oregon State 34-7 in the Rose Bowl, while in the Sugar Bowl, #7 LSU beat unranked Syracuse 10-7 on a late field goal.
A five member committee of the Football Writers Association of America awarded the University of Arkansas Razorbacks the "Grantland Rice Trophy" as the #1 team in a poll taken after the bowl games. The Helms Athletic Foundation, which also took polls after the bowl games, named Arkansas as 1964 National Champions. Notre Dame was named as the National Football Foundation's national champion. In 1965, the AP's final poll came after the bowl games, but the policy did not become permanent until 1968. The Coaches' Poll adopted the same policy in 1974. Arkansas and Alabama legitimately claim the 1964 National Championship, since all selectors of national title teams are documented in the official 2010 NCAA FBS College Football Record Book. These selectors, including the AP Poll and the Coaches' Poll, were nationally-syndicated in newspapers and magazines during the 1964 football season.[7]

If LSU would've beaten Bama on 1/9/12 that team would've been in major discussion for the best college football team of all-time. The strength of schedule and the way they beat BCS bowl winning teams was unmatched. Frick Bama

Those Army and Notre Dame teams were pussies who repeatedly turned down bowl games (usually the Rose).
