It used to rustle my jimmies how you would bring up scheduling in every single thread, but now I just find it hilarious.

Guess which team has Florida and Georgia as their non-divisional opponents this year.

I will give you a clue; the team in question had Florida and South Carolina as their non-divisional opponents last year.

Does anyone have a clue?

Wait, so you are telling me that if QB1 gets injured then a team is in trouble?

What I am saying is without Manziel the Ags are a mid range SEC West team.

He is that good. Mc Carron is very very good too but IMO Alabama would be in contention running the ball throwing over the top to Cooper and playing D,whereas A&M would not have enough weapons to do the same.

Hard to run the ball when your team is behind the whole game against the Ags. Bama allowed 6 points in the first quarter ALL season until the Aggie gabe (20 points 1st quarter). McCarron hadn't thrown a pick in 280 attempts (+_) yet was picked off 3 times by the Aggies (1 was called back). The Aggie defense had as much to do with the win as JFF and the offense.

That's true, but the offense had 3 turnovers and couldn't keep Johnny off the field in the first quarter. Late turnovers helped seal the deal. The Aggies front 7 did play great, but the secondary almost lost you the game at the end. Right before Yeldon's turnover, McCarron connected deep with Amari Cooper. Imagine if he'd hit Cooper in stride! Then we wouldn't even be having this conversation because the Yeldon turnover that led to an Aggies touchdown would have never occurred.

quote:

Do you honestly think if John Chavis didn't have to try to account for McCarron that Alabama would have had as much success running the ball? I really can't tell if you're trolling or ignorant.

I was ignorant of that point, but I did know that LSU sold out against the pass. I've also read that Chavis didn't blitz much last year due to the younger secondary. Assuming the Alabama offense is healthy and utilizes its strengths all games, this game year's game should be much better than last year. LSU gave up a stupid touchdown at the end of both halves. Alabama did not bring its A game versus LSU, Texas A&M, or Georgia. The other teams did have a part in how poorly Alabama looked at times, but they didn't force Alabama to play below their potential.

quote:

The reason teams like Alabama can rush the ball so well (other than talent) is because they still make teams respect the pass with play action. It's argument in fallacy to just say that Alabama can lose their QB and become some one dimensional rushing team and think they will be just as successful. The OP is dead wrong about his assumption that losing McCarron wouldn't hurt as much as losing Manziel. JFF certainly adds another dimension, but both teams are dependent on a capable passer to fully exploit the potential of their respective offenses.

Thank you. I hadn't realized that until the post I quoted above yours. There's much one can learn here. This board is better than ESPN boards or fan forums. A lot of bias is removed, and all fans are present to give their take.

Fallacy? You STILL have to account for Cooper Bell and the other Alabama receivers because the deep threat will still be there no matter who is calling signals at Bama.

Put 8 or 9 in the box and cover Cooper one on one and see what happens. And if you cant load the box you get run over.

Even without Mc Carron. Which is my point.

Don't take this personally, but damn, dude, you post some stupid shite.

No offense taken. I'm still learning. If I never voiced my opinion, then I wouldn't learn much. I wouldn't know where to begin and there are too many different opinions floating around. When I post my thoughts, there's a good chance that more knowledgeable fans who've followed the game of football longer will be able to enlighten me. Let's see how stupid or not I am this upcoming season. I look forward to being here. In the meantime, I can work out some flaws in my logic. Thanks to those of you whom have been so understanding.

I do not have one single post on this board. I have lurked here for the better part of four years and in that time I have seen some of the most ridiculous shite ever posted. What you just said is, by far, the most elementary analysis of the game of football ever concocted on the internet. You should seriously punch yourself in the nuts right now. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

I don't have any objective or very analytical people to discuss football with in real life. The football fans I know just enjoy the game and don't appreciate anything bad or ugly being said about that time. Most of the responses I've received have been helpful. Trust me when I say that I'm seriously taking in what some of you say. This is a real account. I just need some "experience".

quote:

I am actually jealous of the West this year. Everybody in the West gets a shot at mudholing JFF and ohhhhh how I wish I could get to see what Sutton and Clowney would do to him. In the meantime everyone in the conference will be pulling against aTm this year, just to shut them the frick-up ... in the meantime, who gets them from the East this year, Florida in The Swamp? Hold on, let me check. ::::::: pause to check schedule ::::::: WTF! Vandy and Mizzou? Who's dick did Hyman have to suck in B-ham to pull that shite off? gtfo unbelievable. No Florida, no Georgia, no South Carolina. Something is really wrong here. Second year in the league and already getting preferential schedules.

quote:

Hey, im not a fan of either team--but their defense shut mccarron & company down last year..

24 offensive points, none off of turnovers or short fields, equals shut down? If McCarron had hit Cooper in stride in the fourth quarter, then the Yeldon fumble and subsequent Aggies quick score wouldn't have occured. We can all agree that for one reason or another, Alabama couldn't run the ball down the Aggies' throats, but they didn't discover A&M's deep ball vulnerability until it was too late.

With absolutely NO DEPTH on defense, Mark Snyder managed to do in one season what Tim DeRuyter, Joe Kines, Gary Darnell, Carl Torbush, and Mike Hankwitz couldn't do from 2002-2011: Field a top 30 scoring defense.

In 3 years A&M will have a roster as full of 4 star players as everybody except LSU and Bama - but close. It will be about Sumlin at that point and whether A&M S&C is on par.

One thing overlooked is the S&C at LSU and Bama. The players simply fill out their unis like pros by soph year. To me that is a big variable.

A&M is not there yet as far as competing at the top without JFF - but if you follow recruiting you know its heading that way.

Catching the Bama / LSU teams of last few years may never be accomplished. But Bama and LSU will be hard pressed to keep that many 1-3 rounders on a team every year as well. Those were monster teams year after freaking year.

Its going to be fun to watch for sure.
