Indiana, Louisville or UNC will win.

Louisville dominated Florida the Sugar Bowl, won it all in mens basketball, runner up in womens basketball, and made it to Omaha in baseball with a good chance to win it all.
This cup is bullshite if they don't win it.

Oh well, guess we can't win it every year.

Louisville deserves it for sure. Hell of a year.

$250k and an actual trophy. The first two are sitting in Gainesville.

This cup is based on more than the big 3 sports. I don't remember seeing Louisville mentioned at the T&F championships or women's tennis. Or... holding my nose... softball or golf or equestrian events. In other words, they suck
FWIW I agree with your sentiment, if not your logic. Louisville has had a season to remember that they should be rightfully very proud of. If there was an award for the big 3 sports they'd run away with it. But there isn't.

Florida can't win it every year, I guess.

I think you only get 25 points for a title. So even if UNC wins it all in Omaha, they're too far behind.

Thank you LSU track and field.

Also worth noting that Louisville didn't get a ton of points for football because it's based on BCS ranking and they finished ranked 13th.
Also, these are only men's sports.

My bad - I thought this was men's and women's combined. Looks like from here that Indiana just has to win a game and they're the winner. Louisville would have to finish in the top 4. Both assume that USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll vote along the lines of the CWS finish.

Auburn at 81.. damn.
LSU and SC tied at 48 with Akron, Wofford, and Quinnipiac

The problem is Soccer (why IU and UL have higher points) and Lacrosse (Duke) are sports worth 60 points which skews the final numbers. Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Track & Field are the other 60 point sports.

The only schools that can advance at all are the ones left in the CWS as well as 2 others in the coaches top ten.
The worst a CWS team can score is 9 points for an 8th place finish.
Indiana must place 7th or higher to pass A&M.
Louisville must place 6th or higher to pass A&M
North Carolina must make the CWS final to pass A&M
UCLA can tie A&M by finishing 2nd and must win the CWS to pass A&M.
Since we have both UCLA and UNC on the same side of the CWS bracket, and both would have to beat LSU - it's safe to assume that neither team will pass A&M in the Capital One Cup standings.
Indiana and Louisville is a bit trickier.
Indiana and Louisville play each other in the first round of their bracket.
One of them has to go 2 and Q to ensure that it doesn't pass A&M.
Here is the most recent coaches poll:
1. LSU
3. North Carolina
5. Oregon State
8. N.C. State
10. UCLA
11. Mississippi State
12. Louisville
13. Indiana
If LSU advances to the CWS final, neither UNC or UCLA will finish 1 or 2, making A&M safe from that end.
It is extremely advantageous that Louisville and Indiana are the LOWEST RANKED TEAMS in the CWS
Going 2 and Q does not guarantee a #7 or #8 ranking, as A&M ended up ranked #5 in the final coaches poll of 2011 after the CWS. Because Indiana also has the worst record of all the CWS teams, it's best for Louisville to go 2 and Q and for Mississippi State to eliminate Indiana.
Let's recap:
For A&M to win the Capital One Cup, the following has to happen:
UNC/NC State - Doesn't matter (picking NC State)
UCLA/LSU - LSU wins
Indiana/Louisville - Indiana wins
Oregon State/MSU - Oregon State wins
UNC/UCLA - UCLA wins (UNC eliminated)
MSU/Louisville - MSU wins (Louisville eliminated)
LSU/NC State - LSU wins
Oregon State/Indiana - Oregon State wins
NC State/UCLA - NC State wins (UCLA eliminated)
Indiana/MSU - MSU wins (Indiana eliminated)
LSU/NC State - LSU wins (NC State eliminated)
Oregon State/MSU - MSU wins (Oregon State eliminated)
All SEC final
