ICYMI, both Isabel and Shamburger got their clearance today. I believe that means all 5 signees qualified. Was important for PG depth.

LINK

Arizona
Duke
Illinois
Kansas
Kentucky
Mizzou
North Carolina
Saint Louis University
UConn
Wake Forest

Tatum's top 10. Of note, Chaminade kid without UF in the top 10.

Have to believe the top contenders are kU, Duke, Uk and NC, though I have no clue.

So you're saying there's a chance?

Antonio Blakeney to Louisville. That one hurts, we're running out of good SG's for this class. Hope we don't have to settle for Cullen Van Leer.

247 is fricked up. One page shows LSU. Another page shows Louisville. It is in fact Louisville as you said. Sorry for being confusing.

Seems the only 2 left we've talked to are Malik Newman and Shake Milton. Doubtful on both I'd bet. Circle back around to Ronnie Suggs?

Newman and Milton both eliminated us a few weeks back. PM says we're going to go hard after Briscoe the 5* PG from Jersey, but called it "big game fishing" and said they don't know who's after him now that they missed on Blakeney. I just really hope we don't have to settle for a low ranked guy just to fill out the class. We got our role player in Puryear, we don't want to take another I wouldn't think.

Who else are their main targets at this point? Bryant and Morgan?

If we could get Bryant on board that would be a huge help in getting a high level guard. I also think kids want to see the new staff actually go through a season before committing and I don't really blame them. Hopefully with all the new parts we gel well and make a run at the tourney in year one!

Bryant for sure is our top big man target. Morgan seems like a long shot at this point which is why we took a commitment from Puryear so we could have an instate kid in the class. Besides Briscoe there's Swanigan who's a 5* center and Gates who's a SF. There's not been much talk of us with other guards as we were going all out for Blakeney, so now that we have to start over again I think new names will pop up soon. I have a feeling they will be lower rated guys as most high rated guys have cut down their lists already which is unfortunate.

Cullen Vanleer committed to Mizzou. I'm honestly shocked, low rated 3* with only mid major offers. These aren't even the top instate players, why are we taking commitments from them? Just because they're Missouri kids? It doesn't make sense, if Vanleer and Puryear were from Georgia or South Carolina we'd have never offered. Very disappointing start to this class after bringing in top recruiters and setting expectations so high.

It's also about the end of it. Don't we just have one more spot?

Yes, one more. We filled up early on kids we could have gotten in February. Even Vanleer said he was shocked the offer came so early. This is a concerning trend, as we have taken Allen, Isabell, Puryear, and now Vanleer who were all unranked 3* kids. Only Gill-Ceasar was a 4*, that's not a good ratio.

I'm also a little surprised by these early 3 star signings as well, but some coaches have a knack for finding players who are under-ranked. Just look at Gary Pinkel and his plethora of 3-star players who have been gems. I guess we shall see in a few years...

I think the hope is and what GP does is develop the 3* so that by his senior year he is as good as freshmen 4 or 5 stars. Just can't see these guys contributing significantly for 3 to 4 years.

Anybody watch this kids highlight video? As a sopohmore he had beyond NBA range. Not saying I'm in love with the signing, but kid has deeeeeep range and a great looking shot. His athleticism leaves something to be desired, but the video I saw his shot was impressive. Teams need more than just athletes. One thing about stars in rankings is that sometimes it's too much about how high you can jump and not indicative of winning basketball games. Now we really need Bryant and I'd be cool with this class. The current freshman are going to be the future of this team.

Here's my concern and I'll admit some of it is just paranoia. Puryear and Vanleer could be outstanding players. I think the one thing we could agree on though is that neither were very highly touted or coveted at this point. Doesn't that make it tougher to land a kid like Bryant? It seems so many of the top players play with each other and against each other and talk about continuing that in college. Even if these 2 turn out to be outstanding, does it make it less likely that a kid like Bryant has this feeling of "Damn, look what Mizzou is putting together. I want to be a part of that."

I think Fulford, Fuller and Anderson's sales job just got tougher, regardless of how good the kids are.
