Well going by your logic Ohio State has been out recruiting Bama because they went undefeated last year.So obviously the rankings have been wrong.
Going by that logic my church league basketball team has better players than the Heat because we went undefeated.
Bama and OSU didn't play even close to similiar schedules. Having said that though, OSU has recruited well over the past couple of years.
The point is simple. If you ran a recruiting site what would you put more weight behind, your employee who you pay 35k to evaluate HS talent or a guy that gets paid 6 Mil to do the same and has more Natties than any coach since the Bear.

If by "one of the best" you mean a top 10-15 DT, then yes. The best? No, not even close.
Love the amateur recruiting experts. I assume you have seen all the states DTs in person, and watched a lot of their film? You must be a really good talent evaluator. I mean I don't even know what to look for.

I got a month free of a premium site prior to cancelling. They said it was all about the ankles. The skinnier the better.
Not sure about Dwight's ankles. This could be why Nicolae doesn't view him as elite.

This. Dwight is solid, but not as good as these two.

You'd think the best DT in the state would have an offer from UGA….
You would think Chance Warmack would have an offer from UGA as well. UGA fanbase said the exact same thing about Dwight as him.
Warmackin' w/ no UGA offer

Warmack is an excellent example of why there actually should be a Bama bump (but isin't).
The best scouts in the business thought he was a 3 star player (20th guard in the country and 29th player in GA) and this ranking was AFTER he got the "Bama bump" for committing. UGA deemed him to not be worthy of a scholly.
Saban disagreed with all those people.
Who ended up being right?
If I ran a recruiting service I would be smart enough to acknowledge that Saban is better at this than I am (he's the best talent evaluator in the history of the sport).

most coaches have landed a 2/3 star that ended up an all american at some point.

My move was to say "I like your shoes" when they would catch me checking out their ankle girth.

I'd trust Saban's recruiting before anyone giving out stars.

its pretty obvious its the haters questioning his 247 reevaluation. watch his hudl video and its pretty clear hes a 4 star prospect, long and lean, strong, quick and doesnt give up. there are tons of plays with him chasing down little 150lb running qbs in the open field. hes good at shedding blocks. there are some plays his in there as center as is pancaking people left and right, and he even returns an onside kick for like 60 yards. the kid is a jumbo athlete and exactly what we want to try and get more pressure form the down linemen. the rankings are full of 2 and 3 stars guys who are only ranked that way because there are thousands and thousands of HS recruits and noone had really looked at them very hard. well, when saban lets a 3 star commit in june before his senior year it tends to get the sites looking at the kid.

He was rated a 3-star 87 on May 28th by 247. All of his tape was available to the staff at that time.
3 weeks later, he jumps 500+ spots because of one camp in Tuscaloosa.

so i guess you are retarded, right? just becasue film exists doesnt mean anyone from the recruiting services really looked at it hard. do you really think the recruiting services are going through every HS players film?

On May 28th, JD was just a name. Who cares? 3-star. 87 grade.
On June 17th, JD was a 'bama commit. AAAAAAHHHHHHH, now lets really break down his film. Def top 200 player.
So you trust the talent evaluators at a company that will randomly throw a grade on a player without actually evaluating him? Doesn't seem like a proper way to do your job. I don't know how anyone can take 247 seriously if that's how they conduct their business.
Posted on 6/21/13 at 12:41 pm to joeyb147
So you believe 247 correctly had him as a 3* 87 grade and that's where he should still be rated?
