Tips for poison Ivy

I cleared out the woods behind my house last week and apparently got some poison ivy. I'm putting cortizone on it and icing it but those only provide relief for so long. Anybody got any better options?

I am insanely allergic to poison ivy. Call your doctor's office, have them prescribe something called Olux-E foam. It usually works wonders. If they try to prescribe a steroid pill, they taste awful and make you feel bad, but they clear it up. Definitely ask for the foam.
Nothing else works for me except some sort of steroid.

Don't yank it for a while.

Inside of a banana peel will dry it out in a couple days.

Comet or Ajax powder, mix with water to make a paste. Apply to infected areas. It might burn like hell at first but it will kill it.
The other option is clorox.

Aveeno Oatmeal Baths and some good ol' Calamine Lotion (clear). As Bella said, if it's too bad you may need a steroid.

Don't know. Not allergic.

My brother said that, and then went into his yard and cleared a whole thing of poison ivy. Guess what happened...

I've walked through it many times. Never had a reaction.

That's how he was. Always touched it and walked through it. It can hit all of the sudden. He got it for the first time when he was 40.
I was a little smug, just because he'd bragged about it.

Once you have an allergic reaction, every time you are exposed, it gets worse. My downfall was hiding in a poison sumac bush at camp when we were having a paintball fight. It's been downhill ever since.

Be really careful what you touch before you wipe too.

The shite is kind of expensive, but I'm extremely allergic to poison Ivy and I've had it numerous times. The few times I've used this stuff it cleared up much faster than just letting it run its own course.

This stuff won't really make it go away significantly faster, but will help sooth it and relieve the itch some. Also try taking some benadryl (perhaps only at night if it makes you drowsy) as it should help diminish the allergic reaction a bit.

Benadryl, and try to stay out of it. Just be thankful you didnt get into poison oak.
