LSU had more than enough talent to dominate ND last year but the game plan wouldn't have allowed them to. Since 2008 Miles goes into every game with the mindset of "don't let the O lose this for us". Les Miles offensive game plan for every game is the equivalent of a golfer who goes up to a 10ft birdie putt with the mindset of "just leave this close enough for a nice easy par." Which is why LSU's offense has sucked since 2008.

No Olgtree would have thrown Goldsen around like he did with that Tech player and Murray would have penetrated that secondary like it was that girl from spring break

ND had no business being in that game.

I pull for whoever the SEC representative is but it would have been more entertaining if the rest of the country could have at least found a team that could hang for the first half.

Do you seriously think that Notre Dame would have stayed within 21 points of A&M?

If Alabama led 28-0 at halftime, A&M might have put up 100.

At that point in the year, we weren't just beating teams...we were BUTCHERING them.

I guess some of you people forget that fricking Pitt took ND to overtime at ND. The same Pitt that Ole Miss dominated. They were pure shite and were exposed.

Bama, obviously.
UGA
LSU
TAMU
UF
All are for sure wins IMO. Bama, LSU, and UF would of dominated them on the defensive side. Obviously Bama did. And those teams would of ran for 300+. So would UGA.Johnny Football would of had close to 600 total yards and 5 TDs against them.

Ole Miss and USCe would have been a toss up. Point is, the majority of the SEC would of beaten or at least made it close. ND had no business being in that game.

Ole Miss beat Pitt by 40ish. Pitt took ND into 2 overtimes. I'm pretty confident Ole Miss and USC would beat ND.

Some of these answers are hilarious.

Alabama (obviously). A&M yes. UGA probably, but its horrific run defense would play into ND's strength on offense, so who knows.

UF? LSU? Based on their bowl performances how do we know? Both of them stunk up the joint against teams that were worse than ND.

Enlighten me then who did. I'd love to hear who you'd choose over ND for the game and your rationale.

Transitive property? Seriously? Are you new to sports? FIU played Louisville to the wire (lost by 7 and actually outgained the Cardinals). Louisville dominated Florida. Therefore, FIU would beat Florida if they played. Syracuse destroyed Louisville, so they would destroy Florida. It all makes so much sense...

People also fail to realize and/or appreciate just how good Saban is at bowl prep. He's absolutely scary with five weeks. The ND/Bama game would not have been the way it was if it was a regular season game. All you have to do is look at 2011. Two teams played each other twice, once in the regular season, once in a bowl. In the first game (played at Team A), the stats (yards, first downs, TOP) were all close, with Team B edging Team A in OT. In the second (played at a "neutral" site, but Team B having the crowd/location advantage) Team A destroyed Team B in all facets. The only differences between the two games really were location (which actually should have given Team B more of an advantage) and time to prepare for each game. And look what Team B's coaching staff did with it. Saban can go from losing at home with one week to not allowing the same opponent to cross the 50 until the fourth quarter with five weeks.

Nice work there. I love your reasoning.

Fact of the matter is, in addition to Bama ... SCAR, aTm, LSU, UGA and UF would have all mudholed Notre Dame.

Even the oddsmakers said so. Several oddsmakers came-out after the game and said all of the above would have been favored against Notre Dame in that game.

But Bama did us proud - especially butt raping Manti Teo.

Eta: LINK ]NOTRE DAME WOULD BE THE 10TH BEST TEAM IN THE SEC ... and it pained me greatly to link to him, it did.
