Much like the others at different positions, Hollywood Rhodes played mostly QB out HS and went to Louisville as one. One of the few times I've talked to an NFL player, he said really wanted to go to Bama. Kinda odd that another current NFL player from Louisville, Michael Bush, also arrived at Louisville as a QB.

And then there's Amobi Okoye from Louisville, a Nigerian transplant from Huntsville.

Bryan Thomas ended up as a 1st Round pick coming out of UAB, from Minor HS...

But an Alabama example would be Ware and Umeniora (sp), I don't know what their grade situation was, but it's surprising that they both came out of Opelika and didn't end up at a bigger school than Troy. Specifically Auburn.

From what I've read Ware was a pretty skinny kid that played WR and Osi was basically a short fat kid with a lot of heart. Both were late bloomers physically and there was just no way to know they would become who they did.

I will say that Tubs had a pretty good eye for those "diamonds in the rough." Dansby was kind of like Ware in high school. SenDerrick Marks didn't have anyone after him. Tuberville saw him play basketball while waiting in the gym to see someone else he was looking at and that's what got him interested in Marks. Fairley was a mid level 3 star OL in high school that he recruited as a DL.

Alabama has a long way to go to be in the conversation of HS talent with Georgia.

Hmm dont know whats soo funny but I saw a interview on signing day by T. Luginbill talking about how if you go back and look at the amount of kids that go to the NFL out of Alabama you would be surprised. Its a lot of guys in the league that didnt get highly recruited.

I think talent can get you 4 stars, but getting your name out there and showing you are commited to football by attending camps will get you the 5th one, commitment is the 5th star.

Rivals with a Bama bias.

And what's the reason for it now? I could understand when Shannon was there, but no Bama fan has any major stake in Rivals any more, and it's not like the Bama site is one of their mega-sites either. I think TideSports has about 10 subscribers.

Duh, Yahoo Sports loves the Tide.

If people want the most unbiased rankings (eventhough Rivals is not biased) they should simply look at the 247 Composite. Combines the rankings of 247, Rivals, Scout, and a few others into one system.
