Is there something in particular you want to know about it?

Airbus is a big deal, for sure. Just like any other major manufacturer, for every one assembly line job at the Airbus factory, they are projecting 4 jobs down the supply chain to support it.

This area is exploding. Bayer is also saying they want to build an herbicide plant around Mobile.

I'm thinking I10 is going to be littered with JIT suppliers over the next 2 years.

Nice, I'm moving to the area soon and this is very good stuff to hear.

Its good to know things are growing in this area, which I couldn't imagine things not.

It said on their website that they plan on building 40-50 planes a year. Doesn't really sound like a supply line type job, does it?

Mobile is booming with big manufacturing plants from European companies.

First Thyssen-Krupp and now Airbus. I might have to look into the area upon graduating.

They build the planes on an assembly line. Someone has to make the parts for the planes.

So for every dude at the factory actually putting the plane together, there are people down the supply chain making seats, aluminum, hydraulic parts, landing gear, nuts, bolts, rivets, and so on.

Mercedes brought more than just car assembly jobs to Ttown. Faurecia moved in to make seats, RF moved in to makes axels...

Not trying to be a smart arse or anything

FWIW I hope to be on the Airbus train, as well. I just wish they had broken ground on the plant 2 years ago instead of 2 months ago. Like I was saying though, even if you don't get on with the actual Airbus plant, many, many more jobs will be created in the area because of it. Good luck

We were fishing dixey bar a few years ago when they took one out for sea trials. All the coast guard cutters, gun boats, planes etc were a little unnerving.

Fingers crossed that Congress wants to keep making these, especially at Austal. The littoral boats aren't getting good reviews :(

Airbus is going to be a giant pain in my arse, but likely to get me a fat bonus every quarter. I'm bittersweet about their arrival. Thyssenkrupp was and still is a hassle to deal with, but they were spending over 1 mil a month during the construction phase

Eta: oh hey pal. How was the honeymoon?

Fixed it for you.

It isn't just the Austal model, the other design is crap too.
