It won't be LA, I agree, but we're going to be there a lot going forward. We offered 10-12 GA prospects in December and invited them to the Peach Bowl practices. Every other year going forward we will have 3 games played within a 3 hour drive of ATL (SC, AU, UA). And should have UGA on the schedule soon.

I agree with you on Tulane. But GT is a good OOC opponent and playing in ATL would definitely be a bonus. On that note, I heard the Peach Bowl (who owns the kickoff games) talked to us about a future kickoff game at the Georgia Dome.

my theory is they are going to release it during the hoops game to distract us. A "lookest over there" if you will.

I had asked WCA who he would root for if we ever played UCLA. Now it looks like he will actually have to make that choice

there's a rumor going around (ie, I was told) that both games are already set for ESPN in the contract. Can't seem to find confirmation.

Would make sense as they are opening weekend games (no CBS games) but I could also see SECN or PACN wanting a crack. And doesn't Fox own Pac rights?

Pac 12 has a split deal with Fox and ESPN

quote:

The Pac-10 -- soon to officially become the Pac-12 -- has agreed to a 12-year television contract with ESPN and Fox that will more than triple its media rights fees and be the most valuable for any conference in college sports.

The contract, which will begin with the 2012-13 season, will be worth more than $225 million per year -- or $2.7 billion over the life of the deal, Sports Business Daily and The Associated Press reported on Tuesday.

quote:

The Pac-10, which will be renamed the Pac-12 in July with the additions of Utah and Colorado, topped those deals, as well as the $205 million the SEC gets and the $220 million paid to the Big Ten.

Under this deal, Fox and ESPN will split the rights to college football games. ESPN will air its games on cable as well as ABC; Fox will show its games on its broadcast network, basic cable network FX and on the Fox Sports Net regional networks.

ESPN will air four prime-time games on both Thursday and Friday nights, as well as a 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT Saturday window for football. There will also be at least five Saturday night prime-time games on ABC or Fox.

“We are very pleased this series was able to come together and provides our program with an exciting, premier non-conference matchup against UCLA,” Texas A&M Director of Athletics Eric Hyman stated. “UCLA brings one of the top programs from the West Coast to the redeveloped Kyle Field in Aggieland, and for our Aggie team and the 12th Man to have the chance to play in the Rose Bowl is a historic opportunity.”

Texas A&M and UCLA have met four times on the football field with the series tied at two games each.

“Facing tough non-conference competition is a necessity with the new playoff system beginning this year,” said UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero. “We are excited to add home-and-home series with both Texas A&M and San Diego State to a future schedule that already includes a traditional Big Ten/Pac-12 series with Rutgers.”
