Most Rant posters don't give a shite, it was all the angry olds who hate change that wanted a turkey game.

Thanksgiving? Horrible. No LSU fan likes this, gotta be that Friday. How do the Aggies feel about this?

LOVE it on Thanksgiving. Really enhances the holiday. I think y'all will grow to like it, too

It isn't going to affect y'all as much as you think it will. How many coonasses are there? Not all of y'all go to the game.

Yeah I'd honestly prefer it in the Friday slot but I don't care all that much. The Thanksgiving slot isn't some travesty like the LSU fans make it out to be

thanks to FarmersFight for the heads up

Rice added another marquee team to its future schedule with a home-and-home series in 2014 and 2019 with Texas A&M.

The Owls will travel to College Station in 2014, enhancing an already attractive non-conference schedule that includes the season opener at Notre Dame.

Texas A&M will return to Houston for a game at Reliant Stadium in 2019. It will mark the first time the Aggies and Owls have played in Houston since 1995, the final season of the Southwest Conference.

An official announcement is expected Friday afternoon.

Financial terms were not available. A lack of available road dates for A&M is presumably the reason for the five-year gap between games.

should this thread be combined with the predict future OOC games thread or should they remain separate?

'm sorta surprised Rice agreed to that, given that an A&M/Rice game at Reliant will probably have the same crowd ratio of a game at Kyle. There are what, 100k Aggies within 30 minutes of Reliant?

shite, I'm surprised we agreed to that with the game vs the Pigs at JerryWorld and the likelihood of a 9 game SEC schedule by 2019.

Texas A&M tried to avoid playing back-to-back games in the Metroplex in the 2014 football season but couldn't, so the Aggies will play at Southern Methodist on Sept. 20 in Dallas and will face Arkansas at AT&T Stadium in Arlington the following week.

SMU was willing to allow A&M out of the contract, but the Aggies couldn't fit another school into its schedule.

"We couldn't leave until we got somebody in its place," A&M athletic director Eric Hyman said. "Quite frankly, it was very, very grinding. We tried for months but couldn't do it."

Hyman talked to officials from Pitt, BYU and Nevada-Reno about arranging something that would be acceptable to all parties to no avail.

"We tried many, many different scenarios and couldn't pull it off," Hyman said.

A&M is left playing two regular-season games in the Metroplex for the first time in a season since 1959 when A&M opened with Texas Tech in Dallas and later played at TCU on Oct. 17 in Fort Worth.

If only Rice had an on campus stadium that they could maintain.

It's very evident that we want to have complete ownership of the City of Houston while being the biggest player in Dallas.

As for Rice, they know they can make a LOT more money playing the game in Reliant. It's all about the $$.

Rice Stadium only holds 45k these days. There are no seats under their tarp anymore.

The game will be played at Reliant Stadium in Houston on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015 and an ESPN network will televise the game to a national audience. Arizona State and Texas A&M have never met on the gridiron.

With Tulane having to cancel their series with Georgia Tech I really think A&M should jump in and take their place.

We could drop @SMU and go to NOLA this year on the 20th which would give them time to finish their new stadium. I assume Tulane would be happy enough with still getting to play a BCS opponent in their stadium that they would give a 2-1.

This should help ticket sales for the Arky game since the back to back DFW trips this year will probably hurt sales for both games.

Plus, we can get more NOLA exposure for recruiting.

*edit* probably can't happen b/c they are scheduled to play Duke that date.

too bad b/c I want to notch another Magnolia Conference win.

I'd be down for this. Given our heavy recruiting in NOLA it would be a good idea to play there now and then - especially in years when we play LSU at home.

Why did the GT-Tulane series get cancelled though? I wouldn't mind playing GT either.

Tulane isn't sure they will have their new stadium ready in time. It's construction may drag on until Oct 1. They couldn't find a date to move the game back to.

Not sure why they had to cancel the entire 4 game series over it though.

It would seem like it would be pretty easy to either flip this year to a game at GT or just completely move game 1 of the series to a different year.

I'd like a GT series too but I assume that we will recruit Louisiana much harder than Georgia making a game in NOLA more appealing.

I just figured if we are willing to do a 2&2 with SMU for Dallas recruiting I don't see why we wouldn't do something similar with Tulane.
