Only 1 team has hosted with an RPI of 40+ Hawg fans. That was a 50 win Notre Dame team that had an RPI of 43.
Last year RPI teams 1-17 all hosted with the exception of Arizona State who was ineligible.
Lots of good info in this article.

Do you think it's possible for y'all to host if USCe takes the series and y'all don't get far in the SEC tourney? Not a flame, legit question

And the only reason Notre Dame got it was to have a regional up north and they were about the only worthy team.
There will be surprises.
Without the Texas regionals there will be more regionals to go around to other parts of country this year.

No.
I feel that if we get to 40 wins we host.

Interesting that the ACC has 6 teams in the top 17. That's a pretty strong league, comparable to the SEC. Who's leading the conference race?

If you take one against USCe and one in the tourney that will put y'all at 40. I personally think if y'all take one from SC then you will have to win two at the tourney but if ou take the series 2/3 you will only have to win one, if any in Hoover.

Yeah, If we would have taken care of business in Oxford we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Vanderbilt: 9-0
LSU: 8-1
Arkansas: 7-2
South Carolina: 6-3
Ole Miss: 4-5
Miss State: 4-5
That's series records for teams this year in conference play. State has absolutely no marquee series wins this season. None. Zero. Zilch.
