Illinois Renames Scary Road in East St. Louis "Barack Obama Avenue"

I went to a St. Louis Cardinals game last Friday and decided to cross the Mississippi River to park at a casino in East St. Louis where a free shuttle bus will escort you directly to Busch Stadium (this is a local secret, Cards fans).
The moment you cross the river, you must exit on a road recently renamed Obama Avenue to get to the casino.
The funny thing about Obama Avenue is that it takes you thru the scariest part of East St. Louis. You don't want to be there. Burnt out Houses. Burnt out cars. Trash everywhere. Graffiti. Drug dealers. Barred windows.
Illinois, Obama's state, honored him with a boulevard in East St. Louis.
I find that super ironic.

I know. My point is that Obama Avenue is now the new MLK Blvd.

I'm not surprised. Just a bit ironic. We're talking about East St. Louis. That place is about as bad as the worst part of Detroit.
