Apparently they were going very very fast and crashed into and landed inside a house boat that was docked at the marina.

Rachel Swetnam and Trey Varner were the casualties.

Rachel was a Tri-Delt.

Anyone heard any more details? They had to be drunk I would think.

Yeah, that's correct, I meant to put that in the OP not the Taylor name that was just in a tweet that confused me and was probably one of the ones injured not killed.

Donnie Ovalle ?@donjuanfresh 5m
Prayers also go out to Taylor tonight, may The Lord provide a speedy recovery!

Horrible, but the fact she was a Tri-Delt isn't worth mentioning.

how does this happen at 530pm? I don't care how drunk you are, no reason to be that close to a dock let alone hit it going that rate of speed.

prayers to the family.

doubt throttle would stick but could be someone that isn't experienced driving a boat pushed forward instead of reverse to slow the boat down.

From the speed they said it was going at it would take a good amount of space to build up to that speed. Doubt it was a case of a pushing it the wrong way.

Regardless of causes, tragic loss of life. Condolences to all families and friends involved.

Why do people never think to pull the key out? If there was a mech. failure yank the key out, kill the engines, and drift into the dock rather than slamming it at 40 knots.

prayers for families, yesterday was a perfect day to be on the lake too. Hopefully the others get well soon.

Pull the kill switch and it would have shut down real quick

This story and has really saddened my day. I am at an age where I think, "how do I keep this from happening to my kids?".

I hate to see these events.

How awful. When I think about how many times my friends & I have been going too fast drunk boating, I cringe. Just as scary & deadly as drunk driving in an automobile. Prayers sent for all involved.

yep, I grew up on a lake, parents had a boat and waverunner, a lot of foolish behavior but one thing we were careful of: driving too fast at night and in no wake zones.

I knew both of them. Knew Trey well. They were sitting in the front of the boat and died. The others in the boat were seriously injured but will survive. Driver was drunk he will spend a long time in jail.

sorry for the loss and I hope the dude gets charged with manslaughter. any idea WTF he was trying to pull? I get that there are sandbars and stumps and shite in the water that sometimes you can't see but a fricking dock? He could've killed someone on the other boat as well, or kids swimming. fricking idiot, gets me worked up typing about it, hope he loses most of his adult life in jail.
