in Jim Fyffe. Fyffe became Auburn's play-by-play announcer in 1981 and spent 22 seasons calling Auburn football games.
Fyffe would end every broadcast by saying, "My time's up, I thank you for yours."
Probably my favorite call: "...so it's fourth down and 14 to go. Nix this time will go for it with 6:22 left in the third period, Auburn trailing 14-5. Out of the shotgun, Patrick Nix. Alabama bringing everybody. Nix is gonna float one for Sanders, Sanders OH HE CAUGHT IT AT THE TWO! AND HE DIVES IN! TOUCHDOWN AUBURN! TOUCHDOWN AUBURN! OH MY GOODNESS! SANDERS WENT UP OVER TOMMY JOHNSON OR ANTONIO LANGHAM, HE CAUGHT THE BALL AT THE TWO, HOW HE HELD IT I DON'T KNOW, BUT HE DIVED INTO THE ENDZONE, AND AUBURN'S RIGHT BACK IN THE THICK OF IT, WITH A BACKUP QUARTERBACK, TRAILING 14-11! A 35-YARD PASS PLAY, PATRICK NIX TO FRANK SANDERS!"

Wow. If you had asked me I would've thought it was only about 4 years ago. It's been 10 years already? Damn.
Who is Auburn's play-by-play guy now?

I thought that too when I read that.
Rod Bramlett is the play by play.

When I was a young child, my dad would listen to Auburn broadcasts on the radio if the Alabama game was on TV at the same time, or if there wasn't TV coverage of the Auburn game for whatever reason.
I would literally cry every time I heard that man scream "TOUUUCCHHHHDDDDOOOOOOOWWWWWWWNNNNNNNN AAUUUUUUUUUUBBBBBUUUUUUURRRRRRNNNNNNNNNN"

I was at this game.
But I found this page on youtube a few weeks ago.
rscotta831 has a bunch of stuff with Fyffe's calls.
Auburn-LSU 1994
laughed my arse off at the call on Brain Robinson's interception return... unbelievable game.
go to about the 17:22 mark. even Charlie Troutman who was pretty even keel gets all fired up

I do miss Fyffe, hate that he wasn't in Arizona to make the call for the NC.

You, like me are old enough to realize why people look down at some of our fans..
They always show up at the best moments..

I would have loved for HIM to get the chance to do the 2004 and 2010 seasons. He earned that. LOL.
But I believe Rod is doing a great job...

Sorry to hear that, it stinks when you lose a good one.
UK had one of the best in Caywood Ledford, I miss him every time a basketball or football game come on the radio. Haven't had a good one since.
