After landing a commitment from highly decorated St. Paul's Episcopal's linebacker Tre' Williams, recruiting insiders seem to be changing their mind on one of the best running backs in the country; Oxford's Roc Thomas. Both Bryan Matthews and JC Shurburtt have changed their predictions to Auburn today. Whether or not something has changed, I don't know. I do know Bryan Matthews will have an update on him at the end of the week. I also have read that Alabama has been slow playing him due to the recruitment of Leonard Fournette.

Auburn is also expected to land Vigor defensive end Justin Thornton and former Prattville standout, now the starting safety of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Derrick Moncrief within the next couple of days.

So.. one national analyst thinks Alabama, one thinks Auburn, and a Miami mod thinks Alabama.

Alabama knows where they stand with Fournette. They aren't putting all of their eggs in the Fournette sweepstakes.

Pie eating contest is going to seal the deal with Roc IMHO.

4* DT Elisha Shaw
4* ILB Tre Williams
4* RB Nick Chubb
4* OLB Rashaan Evans
4* WR Demarre Kitt
4* S Cortez McDowell
3* QB Brandon Harris
3* ILB Da'Shaun Davis AU Commit
3* C Josh Casher AU Commit
3* RB Kamryn Pettway AU Commit
3* TE Chris Laye AU Commit
3* QB Kendrick Doss

You can't overlook the fact that the Auburn mod had Alabama chosen, then switched this morning, right before the other national analyst did the same. Something seems to be in the works.

By all means, they are slow playing Roc Thomas right now while trying to land Leonard Fournette. It's been said on this board by Alabama fans. And the Alabama staff must think they're in pretty good shape right now. I'm not saying they're putting all their eggs in his sweepstakes, but they are going after him extremely hard.

Not knocking Roc Thomas, but who has him ranked as a 5-star?

247 composite and Scout. Either way, he's a consensus top 6 RB in a very talented RB class

Rivals, 247Sports, and ESPN don't, but Scout does...

Not surprising, considering they hand out so many 5 stars.

We've been recruiting well for years now, at least ranking wise. What I'm interested in is whether this new staff gets them on campus, keeps them there, and develops their potential. I also want to see more of a presence from Chette. You heard so much about him and his role during Tub's tenure, but nothing from the players under Chizik except for Lutzie in his goodbye letter.

Roc Thomas knows he can just commit to AU, set his signing bonus and have Bama come in and pay more at the end like Yeldon, Kouandjio, and the tattoo guy.

Saban loves flipping the instate players from Auburn. Give the Auburn fans some hope and snatch it away at the end. Tre Williams looks like a future flip.

There is nothing about Tre Williams that looks like a flip...maybe Roc.
