FSU not granting release would be insanely stupid. What does FSU have to gain by doing that? Let the kid out, block him from the schedule and the conference and move on. It happens all the time, and is the only way to go. The negative publicity, and the dirty recruiting alone would be enough reason to release him.

I very seriously doubt Jimbo will enforce and if he does the NCAA record isn't good for FSU meaning kids get backed when they HAVEN'T ENROLLED YET about 95% of the time

FSU has spent a ton of money recruiting MT (vists both to Miami and visits to FSU - he was #1 on our board). A source that works on FSU's staff said that Jimbo has every intention of enforcing the LOI

That gives Thomas something to appeal then...
NLI Appeal
quote:
"NCAA Eligibility Center on behalf of the Conference Commissioners Association, which oversees the NLI program. When a school denies an athlete's request for a release, the athlete has 30 days to appeal the denial to the NLI Committee. Athletes even have a second appeal, to the NLI Appeals Committee, should they still not be granted a release."

Even if Jimbo wants to enforce the LOI he can't make Thomas play for FSU. The LOI doesn't force him to play, just more difficult to leave

Not at all. He would have three options. Either sit out a year, head to JUCO, or attend another school pay out of pocket for the first year.

I would love for Pruitt and Jimbo to do this. So that every school recruiting against FSU can use this to bash them in to the ground. Easy story to tell as well; 5-star player from the state was forced to stay at the school even though he really didn't like it there. You wouldn't like it there either so don't make his same mistake because they're desperate and will trap you!
They're the boogey man... Don't be a victim.

I think fsu will release him, but I think he ends up a trojan.

He would have to love USC a ton more than uga to go there. I feel like UGA is the most likely place. the mom didn't want him to leave home. The family would be way more comfortable with UGA because it is closer + he has family in georgia. LA is a long way away.

Like I said before, there is A LOT more to this story. It will all unfold, but there's a very good chance he'll be at FSU come fall.

Apparently both the chosen one, Richt, and Saban reached out to Jimbo and advised him not to release MT.
Where are all the holier than thou UGA fans?

Any source other than rumors by people on 247?

Congratulations! A team in which you profess to cheer for may get to keep a young man who doesn't want to be there. It should turn out well for said team. Allow me to present you with a cookie.

Confirmed by two well known FSU sources that know coaches on the staff. Jimbo is not letting MT off the LOI.
