How many seniors will your program field this football season? Juniors?

I know South Carolina only has four seniors on the roster this season, seventeen juniors, twenty-one sophomores and the rest are either Redshirt Freshmen or true freshmen.

I'm wondering if there will not be a younger team than SC in the league this year, but I'm not sure who it will be?

Eta: (When I typed 4 seniors and 17 juniors, I am talking about on the entire team, not the two deep chart. SCAR only has 4 scholarship SRs on the entire team, and 17 scholarship Jrs on the entire team. The four seniors are QB Connor Shaw, OL Ronald Patrick, CB Jimmy LeGree and DE Chaz Sutton.)

LSU despite loss of underclassmen still has a lot of Sr and Jr in the starting lineup.
You have to keep in mind some of the jr's we lost were redshirted and were actually 4th year jr's
Current Sr/Jr in lineup
Mettenberger QB
Blue RB
Hilliard RB
Magee RB
Copeland FB
Landry WR
Beckham WR
Boone WR
Collins OT
Porter C
Hairston K
Johnson DT
Ferguson DT
Rasco DE
Barrow LB
Jones LB
Loston S
Martin S

If I'm not mistaken, LSU will start 2 Seniors on each side of the ball.

Mett at QB
Copeland at FB
Loston at S
Barrow at LB

Tahj Jones, Al Blue, James Wright, and Kadron Boone will also get significant PT, and Tahj and Blue may start.

4 Senior Starters is actually more than LSU had last season. If memory serves LSU started 3 seniors in the CFA Bowl, and they were all on the offensive side of the ball.

I think that's just on our offense. I know we have some seniors on defense (I'm looking at you Jake Holland...clock's ticking)

So, in other words, the SEC is still going to be a very young league in 2013.

Gotta wonder that says about 2014 across the board.

This is the year circled on my calendar for us to finally know our "ceiling" under Mullen. Will have a team full of 4th and 5th yr players with talented underclassmen and finally a true dual threat at QB...

So Miss State, A&M and Bama are going to be Senior and Junior loaded and therefore the most experienced programs in the West this coming season evidently.

That should give them a leg-up on the competition I would think, does it not?

Yes...and no.

More experienced? Yes

More talented? We'll see

If you have an underperforming senior or junior, they shouldn't start over a more talented freshman or sophomore, regardless of "paying his dues".

Here's what you want at each position:

QB - experience over talent...unless you have Johnny Manziel

RB - talent over experience due to shelf life

WR - healthy mix. You want both good route runners and freak athletes

TE - see WR

OL - EXPERIENCE first then talent. Offensive line has to work as a unit

DL - talent at end, experience at tackle

LB - experience first then talent

DB - talent at corner, experience at safety

We'll have 15 seniors, 27 juniors, and obviously everyone else is a freshman or sophomore.

17 or 18 of them are likely to contribute.
