While he wasn't the first Bulldog the saints should have taken, I am pretty excited about the Saints getting a NT.

I know you have two NTs in the draft Kwame Gathers and Jenkins. Who started? did they both play NT or am i mistaken?

They both played NT and Jenkins was the starter, but when we got very low on depth at DE he shifted there toward the end of the year.

He is real big and at one point was expected to go in the first round, but I think his ability to play a lot of downs was in question...

He will be a good player if:
1. He controls his weight 345 is ideal
2. Plays lower

Great value for the saints at that pick. Kiper had him as the 32nd best player in the whole draft I'm just glad the saints didn't pick jarvis

Jenkins was a bust at UGA. He had the size and stars, but just didn't do much with it. I know that nose in a 3-4 doesn't come with alot of sacks and stats, and he is a good player, but if he is going to approach anything close to a Siragusa he needs alot of work. I wish him the best, he was a good player for UGA.

The best the Saints can hope for is alot better player development and coaching than he got from our DL coach (now at Auburn).

He had his sandwich in one hand, the fricking head in the other.

Bolding sentence fragments to take me out of context is wrong.

He came in as a big time game changer, much hype around him. He was a good player, but not the game changer. Thus, he was a good player but also a bust because of all the hype around him coming in.

Are we square?

I disagree. With him we finally had a true nose and it turned our D into top 5 in the country. I know it was not all because of big John but he certainly helped.

#5 total defense in 2011.

You either don't know the true definition of a football "bust", or you're just trying to frick with NO fans.

This past year was definitely a bust for him.

Should be a good NFL guy though.

Every year in the NFL, we see a player get to the league who looks nothing like they did in college. Some look great by comparison. Others look terrible compared to their college selves.

Jenkins is a very large man who moves quite well at 345 lbs. I think that Payton will be able to motivate him and get the most out of him.

That being said, Jenkins' impact will be shown in the team stats column, not individual. Look for the Saints to be much improved against the run.

Thank God nobody likened him to Jonathan Sullivan.

Wouldn't take much for us.

Jenkins issue was getting it done every down. If he did, he would have been a top 15 pick. Maybe they can get him on some of those pro steroids and lean him up...
