Comparing one of the largest cities in the US vs. Athens

Considering this is the point of comparison you chose to emphasize in your retort (never mind Miami Beach, the culture, the climate, the women, the clubs, etc.), I think this says all that needs to be said about your opinion.

But, in case you needed me to reiterate, here it is - Athens is not better than Miami. But it isn't getting shite on by it either.

Two entirely different types of cities (and, oddly enough, you pointed that out in the quote above). I would suggest visiting some time and maybe you would see why Sony said, "I knew it was the right place for me the first time I set foot on campus. It was a little different for me when I got on campus, but I felt comfortable there, almost like I was still at home. I also wanted to experience something a little bit different too."

Trying to compare Athens to Miami is just ridiculous.

I'm sure Athens is nice, just like every other southern college town. But, each and every southern college town has absolutely nothing on Miami. Tallahassee included. And that is the biggest reason why Miami will always be able to recruit.

I think you are completely missing the point. You are so busy pushing Miami and the U as a possible landing spot for Sony that you forgot what Sony himself said during his commitment: "Its different and I want to compete." He is from Miami so it seems he wants to be away from it, regardless of how beautiful the town is. He is going to college to learn to be better and go to school, not lay on a beach and talk ish about how awesome his hometown is.

ETA: Also, the 5th round of the draft is currently going on and the first Miami player just came off the board. I am sure Sony has taken notice that the best of the best don't go to Miami anymore. Its just the current landscape of College football right now.

Is this 6th or 7th year that Miami hasn't produced a 1st rounder in the NFL?? Obviously Miami's glory years are behind them....

A Top 10 player doesn't want to play in front of 20,000 in a 75,000 seat stadium on Saturdays when they can play in Athens, K'ville, Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge, G'ville etc in front of 90,000 for teams that put 5-8 players on average (since '06 so don't fall back on the UM glory years) in the league each year...

If you want a good education Miami is fine (not much better than UF, UGA & Bama tho)...

If you wanna play the best, be the best & guarantee your future the SEC is your best option...

Sony wasn't born the last time UGA won a MNC, but he was only 4 when Miami did, BFD...

Who gives a Frick what Derrick Crudup thinks. He was dumb enough to think he wasn't starting because he's black. The guy is ruh-tard.

18-22 year olds would be broke in a day in miami. Athens is a wonderful place, Miami is cool for vacation but all you guidos need to pull your head out of your arse. Frick the U. And frick you.

Adorable. Miami is a great city for the right person. That person is typically a more wealthy individual that can take advantage of everything the city has to offer. An 18 year old kid with no means of "real" income could just as much enjoy a place with a much lower standard of living but much higher return on life (Athens) rather than a place where $40 dollar cover charges are the norm and the glitz and glamour are for those with boatloads of cash (pun intended).

I've been to Miami multiple times and disagree with your assessment on it "shitting" on every college city location. Just because it's a good city doesn't mean it's a great college city location.

You couldn't pay me to live in or near Miami while I was in college. The Ocean is clearly a guido and his opinion is, therefore, irrelevant.

As far as a college town is concerned:

Athens >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Miami

This is why people like Nevin, Crudup, "Dice" & all the others in the 3 county Miami area can either jock ride or make bank hustling kids in 7 on 7 camps. COL is too high so the kids flock to these kind of slime...

When you're on a full scholly, you will have money to go out. And I'm sure the nightlife on UM's campus is pretty damn good.

If you can't see that going to school in Miami is more attractive for a majority of college athletes, I don't know what to tell you. And that's one of the big reasons why Miami will be a national player again once the sanctions blow over.

Oh so you're aware then that The U is a 30 min drive to the downtown area, you know the great place that is attracting all these recruits? Coral Gables is about 10 miles from the city.

The only school with comparable academics to Miami is UF. Not UGA or Bama IMO
