I wouldnt be surprised to see Alabama get on that list in the next few years. The REC is huge and there is always a ton of people there and I think they are building a second one near the new dorms on campus.

But 12 colleges ranked below UGA by US News are AAU members.

AAU rarely accepts new universities, and generally when they do, a college is removed. Nebraska was removed in 2011.

Even Georgia Tech just became a member in 2010.

More federal funding does not a better college make. Honestly, I'd rather keep the federal government out of our state's affairs like the Framers intended, but that's entirely different conversation.

Except the majority of the list is Ivy league or small private colleges with large endowments.

well considering there are more unhealthy people in the South per capita than anywhere else in the US...
