Saban is the best, and also the most lucky?

First let me preface this by saying I believe NS is the best coach in college football. I was listening to the radio and heard a guy mention Saban is also the most lucky coach in football as well. As an LSU fan people call Miles lucky but if you look at it in 2009 Colt McCoy gets hurt first quarter of the title game. In 2011 LSU beats Alabama at home and wins the SEC but thanks to an OSU blunder against ISU, they back door into the title game. And last season they again lose a home game to A&M and very nearly lose to Georgia, and should have lost to LSU and still make the title game. While I believe they were the best teams in their respective years, I also believe Coach Saban has gotten incredibly lucky. So is saban the luckiest coach in college football? Maybe? It's an interesting question.

Let me guess:
1. Colt got hurt
2. Honey Badger was depressed
3. Te'o had women issues

Miles is easily the luckiest
Saban has the most advantages, ie. REC buying recruits, Bama setting all SEC schedules, Bama refs

Not as lucky as 2-loss LSU back in 2007 imho. Man that was a long time ago!

No not really. No argument that y'all weren't just flat better. Simply that the argument could be made that y'all were lucky to even be there.

This is where you lost me. I agree with everything mentioned before this, but fact is, if you win your games, you win your games. Just like bball, it doesn't matter how.
The McCoy thing and OSU/ISU stuff was pure luck. Not well deserved IMO but something about a dead horse...

So after starting threads on Tiger Droppings for the last three months, you decide to start this very needed and necessary thread here on the SEC Rant?

I like how people act like the guy pulled a hammy running out of bounds or something. He had his frickin' shoulder mashed in by Dareus, his arm turned into a complete noodle.
They knocked him out of the game.

The harder you work, the luckier you get.

Bama won the games that they played...enough said.
They did get a chance at a do over that other teams in the nation would not have received and they won.
LSU got the same luck in 2007...who would have thought Pitt would have beat West Virginia and OU beating Missouri on the same night just hours after LSU escaped against Tenn?
Football is finally fixed with a playoff system and it is not about luck, it is about winning the games that are played. Win and you are in!

Why should we have lost to LSU in 2012?

Did anyone say different? I said he got hurt. QB's don't get hurt every game and the best player for Texas gets hurt first quarter.
