New Targeting Rule

From what I understand it's not reviewed and then the player gets tossed it happens from down on the field by the head official. In the Auburn A-day video the hit was vicious (and stupid considering it was the spring game and his teammate) but there was no helmet to helmet contact and he led with his shoulder.
I have a bad feeling that this is going to get out of hand with the ejections and is going to cost some teams to lose games that they shouldn't.

From what I have heard is it will be a reviewable call.

and hit him in the shoulder, but it had a nast sound to the hit and the player was laid up. the ref probably just assumed, which is why they should at least review. if you are going to kick a player out of the game, which could change the game, you need to review.
Refs are chosing the outcomes of games more and more

Craig loston is going to get tossed at least 4 times next year if this is true

I hope you're right but it wasn't in that A-day game but it was just a spring game.

I really hate the idea of giving SEC officials in any sports more calls to make at their discretion.
It's not even about Birmingham conspiracies either, I just think they're all terrible officials.

There was a serious double-standard where that penalty was concerned during the entire season last year, from start to finish.
Whatever they do, they need to figure out a way to make it equitable. Didn't we just fire our head of refs for the league or something like that?

Don't you worry. The rule will never have to be enforced against Alabama players because they're just well coached.

This is ridiculous to assume this. Alabama is very respectful of the sanctity of the game and will only direct Loston's ejection if it is absolutely necessary.

He is the only player I've ever seen get flagged for the "intent" to target but not actually accomplishing it.

the NCAA needs to prevent the "targeting" of bad grades getting changed to good grades, and targeting of football players getting hit with cash money.

Fully agree. When I saw the video, my first thought was that Gus was going to run that dumbass until he puked for blowing up a teammate in the spring game.
My second thought was if that's the standard for targeting, we might was well strap flags around their waist because you can't play tackle defense anymore.

Oh yeah!

Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn made it clear in Saturday's post-game press conference that Auburn saw the impact of Mincy's hit immediately.
"First of all, I have to say 15-yard penalties are unacceptable," Malzahn said. "We have asked our guys to play hard, we're trying to get them to play hard but I promise you that will be corrected. That was not good, no doubt."

I understand what you're saying and yes I've seen them, but I'll give you the same answer I give LSU fans that say everyone else's baseball announcer is worse than Hawthorne:
Just because other people have it worse than us doesn't mean we should accept mediocrity and not go for something better.
