Who is the best all around sports team in the SEC? And how do we base that?...IMO, the school with the most championships is. I think either LSU or Arkansas leads that one. What's your opinion?

Don't really have one, but thanks for asking.

I would base it on the success in the 3 major sports. I would say UF based on them winning two championships in the last decade in football, and they haven't had a losing record since 1979. They have made it to Omaha quite a few times, and they have a stellar basketball team that has claimed two Natty's in 10 years.

Are we talking current or all-time?

And 98% of Arkansas's championships came from Track (both indoor and outdoor), so I don't think you can go with championships alone.

I'd say you have to be very good in nearly every sport. Florida automatically comes to mind

All-time. I agree, UF has been at the top in the big 3 for a while. BAMA is only good at football, my pick is either UF or LSU but I'm bias of course

True, same with LSU. They have about 30 track championships

Now I see what you were trying to do in this thread

Alabama, historically, is #1 in Football, and arguably #2 in Baseball and Basketball.

We've had national success in Gymnastics, Softball, and Golf.

That isn't true at all.

Arkansas, LSU, and Florida lead the way in the SEC in overall athletic programs.

Some sports carry mor weight than others obviously.

I think a ballpark figure for relevance in a debate such as this is:

Football: 75%
Basketball: 15%
Baseball: 8%
All others: 2%

I think most SEC fans would agree that they would rather 1 football national title in a decade than 10 track and field national titles in a decade

It's 95.34% to be exact. That includes all "running" sports (Indoor/Outdoor track and Cross-Country)

Now you make a completely different statement and include a completely different sport.
