SEC Coaches vs Top 25 competition...

Didn't verify but saw this posted on another site...

quote:

This got me thinking about how the 14 SEC coaches should be ranked, everyone can see total W-L and Bowl game records, Conference titles, National titles, etc..

So i decided to look up how they have done against the Top 25.

Spurrier 56-56-2 (added his 1-5-1 mark from 1987-89 @ Duke)

Saban 36-39 (vacated wins included, but not the bowl win vs. UF that Bobby Williams coached)

Miles 26-29

Richt 22-31

Muschamp 5-7

Sumlin 4-7

Bielema 9-19 (not including the bowl loss to Stanford he didn't coach)

Pinkel 8-34

Mullen 1-7

Malzahn 0-2

Jones 0-7

Freeze 0-7

Franklin 0-9

Stoops 0-0

Looked them all up by their teams here:

Are these based on end-of-season rankings?

These are likely end-of-the-year rankings.

I know it's easy to assume VT lost since it was a BCS game, but that is VT's ONLY BCS win.

I forgot about this season. I even watched the end of that game waiting on the LSU game.

Spurrier sure is washed up. While his early work at South Carolina wasn't exactly desirable, he's doing work now.

Now if we can just get a championship or two and make some real rings...

So does this mean that no SEC coach has a winning record against top 25 ranked teams? I don't think that's possible.

Saban is 8-1 in "championship" games

4-1 in SEC Championship games
4-0 in National Championship games

It's also important to remember the one loss came with a team that was primarily old Shula trash yet somehow had the lead in the 4th quarter against a far superior Florida team and required Tebow turning into Superman to pull it out.

If the game has "championship" in the title, Saban is the one man you don't wanna see on the opposing sideline.
