I'm watching it for the second time. As a child, I remember a good deal of the events shown but never with this much insight.. Good television on tonight.

Plus it isn't as if we don't still have most of those bad things anyway. The 80s absolutely s###s all over the last 15 years in almost every area imaginable. Things invented as a direct result of the 80s:
1) Personal computers
2) Internet
3) Cable TV
4) TV and video recording technology
5) Cell phones
and many other things
The last 15 years has given us sh###y reality TV, even sh###ier music, and global terrorism not to mention most of the bad things from the 80s that are still around. The 80s at its worst absolutely sh##s all over the last decade and a half.

Have to agree. The 80s were strange, but so were the 60s and 70s. The The 60s in particular, and I remember them like yesterday, were not cool - even though "cool" was the word of the day back then.
The 70s were far more of the "drug years" than were the 60s. It became a science in the 70s. Drug chemists became en vogue in the 70s.
