Is the SEC pretty much guaranteed 2 super regionals this year?

LSU and Vandy are neck and neck. I am assuming the second place team will get a Super if they finish 22-8 or better, which would be a 11-7 finish for either team.

Both teams are playing so well I would hope that both would be guaranteed a top 8 spot if they finish decently.

Probably 3 if Arkansas keeps on doing what they started in conference play.

LSU and Vandy are definitely getting super regional bids, though.

Vandy and LSU are both certainly in good position right now for being seeded high enough to host rounds 1 and 2.

There is still a hell of a lot of baseball yet to be played and if either team slips up and drops a couple of conference series the boys at the NCAA may decide otherwise.

LSU sweeping 2 strait series gave them leeway to lose 2 series down the road.

They look at conference record, not series wins.

They also look at final polls. Lose two series at the end of the year would be pushing it to stay in the top 8. But then again even if you aren't a national seed, there are bound to be upsets. Arkansas damn near hosted a super last year and they were a 2 seed in a regional.

Could very well be, but would you want to leave it in their hands if its close?

Anyone who's watched this game as long as most of us know that stranger shite has happened.

Good luck to the Tigers this weekend. Should be a great series.

Even if Arkansas wins this weekends series 2-1 LSU is in a good position with their most difficult series out of the way. I wouldn't see LSU losing another series the rest of the year. And I don't think there is any way LSU gets swept this weekend.

ETA: seems like this thread has lost a little weight.

Lol what? College baseball, like College basketball throws out polls when they are in the selection committee. Its all RPI and strength of schedule.

In retrospect I am so damn proud of that one win we put on ya'll in that series. I'm hoping we'll get some payback in the SEC or NCAA tournaments.

I would be surprised if they were. I'm confident enough in our pitching to keep us in every game, but LSU's got too many good hitters to keep them silent for all three games. While agree the schedules were definitely front loaded for both teams, it's still baseball. Hell, we lost our series to an awful Auburn team in the final weekend last year. You never know with this sport.

An LSU fan should know RPI is t what they go on much.

Two years ago LSU had an RPI of 24 and didn't see tourney play.

I already said they go by conference record

RPI

SOS

Why the hell would a selection committee use the most unstructured form of poll in college sports as its measuring stick to seed teams?

They change every year. Look at their history. They are not consistent in how they select ever.

Right now, they have been wanting to broaden the audience of baseball, thus giving mediocre east coast teams, or west coast teams opportunity for regionals and supers.

We should share with you the joys of College Baseball Daily. He left Arkansas completely out of his postseason bracket because of their 58 RPI ranking before the Bama series. It was comical.

LSU had a 14-16 conference record that year. If you believe what you say about them going by conference records, it wasn't that big of a snub.

Miami hosting over Kentucky was absolute bullshite. Proven by their 0-2 regional record.
