Aaron Murray vs. David Greene

What's the consensus, UGA fans? After this year Murray will hold most if not all of the meaningful QB statistical records at UGA.
Who is higher on the all-time UGA list, assuming Murray's performance (in terms of wins/titles & statistics) this year is in the similar neighborhood of the past 2 years?

Depends what Murray does this year. David Greene pretty much revived our program and won us an SEC title so right now he's on the top unless Murray can win a title this year.

He will host most, if not all meaningful SEC records as far as passing QBs go....

This. Murray obviously has more physical tools, but I felt more comfortable with Greene in clutch moments than I do Murray at this point.

If Murray doesn't win the big time game this year then I'll stay with Greene and his clutch performances. IMO Murray is the better qb though.

Say if the final play against bama, murray threw a pass into the endzone and the receiver dropped it, would you think the same thing?

Murray is the better QB, Greene was the winner.

Yes. One play doesn't define how I feel when Murray is under pressure in the clutch. He just doesn't have it right now. Too many games has he fell through in the clutch for 1 play to change my mind. I think most Dawgs would agree with me.
However, I think Murray is better than Greene and will be remembered so, as long as he gets back to the SECCG. Doenst need to win it IMO to move ahead of Greene

Not really, but it would help his cause. Greene made several clutch, game changing plays, and wasn't defined by 1 good play. Conversely, Murray has had several chances to make me feel more confident in him and hasn't always taken advantage of them. He had a great game against Bama in general and I don't hold the tipped pass against him.

That was one amazing drive though. I actually think that one play has sorta summed up his time at UGA. Always close but no cigar. Had he gotten the td, that would have gone down as one of the greatest SEC championship games ever, if not the best.

Greenie. Wins, stats, championship, and IT.
Murray. Wins, stats, no championship, and doesn't have IT (spring break picture notwithstanding).

One thing to keep in mind on this debate, David Greene had a far better performing defense during his time in Athens.
Faaaar better

As an LSU fan, I used to really admire David Greene. He wasn't the most athletic, but damn he was clutch and very smart with the football. It was very hard to beat UGA when he was the QB.
And I am just curious from UGA fans, should Stafford be in this conversation?

Yes, but Murray vs. Stafford.
Same would go if Stafford was compared to Greene.

Had that pass been caught in the endzone, that probably would have been the single greatest drive in SEC history.
To answer the OP, if Murray wins the SEC or MNC next year, it's a no-brainer. If he doesn't, there will be a disagreement depending on his level of play this season.

This.
Greene has an SEC championship, and a Sugar Bowl win, Murray does not.

It's extremely close
Let's just say Murray was five yards from being considered on Greene's level
You also have to admire Murray's work ethic though

Stafford brings the most clout to georgia. Neither brees or rodgers won anything at purdue or cal.
