Too soon to mention FGCU's Andy Enfield as a HC target?

Studied uder Leonerd Hamilton a great defensive minded coach. FGCU has only had a bball program since 2001. In Enfields first two seasons (12' and 13') he led them to the conference title game each year. Played at John Hopkins, assistant for the Bucks and Celtics before joining Hamiltons staff at Florida State. Now he has his team that's only been D-1 eligble for 600ish days in the sweet 16. Not to mention he has a hot wife.
Too soon or legit canidate?

Legit candidate that could probably get a better job than Auburn ATM
Lets start with their AD and go from there

You are trying to tell me that a two year coach at a school that just made it to D1 who has only a single winning season where he made a few upsets in the tournament is a legit candidate?
Tony Barbee had a Coach K resume compared to him when we hired him

Agreed.
If there is one thing constant among auburn fans its that our reactions are rarely levelheaded and rational.

He founded a 100 million dollar company, he can stay on the beach the rest of his life and coach.

And when it's about basketball, the insanity grows exponentially.
I mean, I actually thought Tony Barbee was the coach that was going to get our program to the NIT this year. Look how irrational that was!
Which reminds me, have you guys heard of Phil Jackson? He's not employed by anyone right now, and I think he's a proven head coach. Someone tell JJ to give him a call.

Nah man, no proven track record at the college level. We need John Thompson Sr

So did I. I didn't think he was good enough to get us to ever really be a treat for the NCAA's but i certainly didn't expect to only win 3 confernece games.
He's got one more year at least so i like your plan. If we're going to play the what if game, lets not talk about Florida Gulf Coast's coach and instead shoot for the stars.

Don't know why we keep discussing new BB coaches when Barbee is still the HC at Auburn?

He's had more success in that one year than Auburn has had during Barbee's entire tenure
If he sustains success over the next year or two at FGCU, some desperate college is going to give him a call and if Auburn isnt desperate I dont know who is. Im not saying it would be the right choice but I do think he would be considered a legit candidate

We should go after Coach K. Surely he's getting bored at Duke and itching for some change of scenery and a new challenge.

Rig's plan:
Go ahead and give Barbee this one last year.. hope that during his last year he can improve this club any amount while still selling the "change of culture" crap to the student section who is itching to see a good program.
After a disappointing year and an early loss in the SEC tournament, fire Barbee and touch base with veteran coaches at major programs to make sure they are happy with where they are at the time. If you somehow find someone that isn't happy in their current situation then throw the bankroll at them and promise them anything they'd like to hear. College coaches are weird in the fact that some do indeed coach for the challenge and a coach at the end of their career can find a place like Auburn very intriguing.
If that doesn't happen the once again go look at guys in the mid majors with an extensive coaching, not recruiting, background. Teams with a high basketball IQ and limited athleticism can be dangerous in the SEC. Right now we are stuck with a low basketball IQ team and mediocre athleticism in the backcourt with no athleticism in the front court. That needs to change.
I'm convinced this ship can be turned around with the right coach and I also firmly believe that there is a coach out there right now that can successfully change Auburn hoops. It's all about evaluation and finding that guy.

I'm confused. Do we wait two years, or are you saying we call him now and hope that he sustains success (using one tournement as the baseline for this success) and more importantly transfers the potential for sustained success to coaching at auburn.
